Make sure you keep an eye on these
This is totally my fault. I think there was a hands tingling thread and someone said to make sure the fairing bolts are tight. I have had some tingling that I no is not from holding on too tight but never bothered to check these.
Last Saturday my buddy who owns a gun shop rode my 14r, today he traded his V-rod in on one. We stopped at another buddies house and the 3 of us went for a ride. On a terribly bumpy road buddy looked at me and said this road will sure let you know if you have any loose bolts. He thought I was joking when I said I think I do. Every big bump it looked like my fairing was bouncing upward. Just a minute later I noticed my mirrors were pointed skyward. We stopped and this is what I found.

This bolt coming out literally let the upper fairing pivot down and over the middle fairing pieces. I hope when I pull it back up it hasn't scratched the crap out of the middle fairing.

Dump the castle nuts & replace them with nylocks & they won't come loose again.

Same thing happened to me after a few runs down the track one night.
Quick trip to the hardware store and things are all better now.

This happened to me yesterday with 2800 miles on the 14r! Can't believe Kawasaki would put a cheap cap nut on this important stress point without even a lock washer.
Got some good nuts but I will be checking them for tightness at least once a month to be sure...
Began riding high speed on back paved country roads that were not smooth...
