14R....back in the saddle

After owning the 2003 ZX12R, 2006 ZX14...the only natural progression would be a Concurs...

Yeah, well my co-worker lives next door if I ever need to borrow hard bags. Picked up my Black 14R last night. I haven't even had a chance to take a pic.

Current mods: None

Plans...daily driver with minor bolt on mods.

Only rode it for a few miles last night, and my but dyno tells me this is the real deal.

I have a few parts that I will be adding as soon as they arrive.
SW Motech(sp?) tail rack for my tool bag....currently, this is my only mode of transportation.
Bar Risers... I really liked them on my 2006, so they are at the top of my list.
Adjustable foot pegs...because I do not care for the stock rubber ones.
ZX10 rear pegs that I swapped at the dealership. They are black and match the rear pillions much better than bare aluminum.

First impression...only a few small things.
Pegs and heelguards should be black.
Pulls like a Meth-Train
Seems like it wants more fuel or air at parking lot speed...makes sense, easy fix.....
It wants its flies removed and a Brock's CT
Seems like it just geared a bit high for me, so was my 2006. My previous 14 had a 45T, which seemed Perfect to me.
temp guage shows the actual temp...I Love this!
Plastics seem to be thought out a bit more than the previous models. Makes it look much cleaner. No idea if its any easier.
Suspension is still all over the place until I can get it set up.
It seems tall for stock...again, my 2006 was not stock for long. Would be much nicer to have this thing lowered a bit.
Between the new tires and the generic suspension settings, this thing felt like it had a 200 tire on the rear.
The hideous exhaust...really ain't that bad. I guess thats why Kawi put it behind the rider. Anyway, its a little too quiet for me, I would at least like to hear the rumble. I'm really suprized that it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I guess because it is a commuter for now.
The Power is definitely on Tap, feels stronger than my Brock'd 2006. My 2006 was right at 178 hp (at 4000ft) with all the mods. Now I'm at sea level, and stock gearing...it still felt Very Strong.

Immediate plans...don't laugh, gonna paint the inside of the windscreen black , install my black zx12 heelguards and have these powdercoated. Paint the silver pieces of the stock exhaust with a bit of high temp flat black. Lastly, gonna see if I can gain some cheap hp by dropping my body wieght...gotten kinda lazy since I retired.

Gonna break it in, add full synthetic a 2K. Overall, I really like this bike, and I truely believe that it is the Real Deal.

Wife already gave me "the Speech" lol

Hey Silver...IF you DO get a 14R....I'd do this if you were planning on long rides...and I'm serious here.Make sure that you're sitting BACK a ways...so that seat can get a conforming to being 'level' for the long rides. If you spend all your time sitting up close(when she's new)...it will develop a bit of a slant....at least mine was...until I started consciously sitting back further...now it's doing really well at staying 'flat'.Even sitting close in.7K on mine now.So it may take some miles to get it to conform 'just right'.

My bike is black, and it has been 212.89 mph. Right now that is the "fastest" one. And it has a stock motor too.

Painted the silver caps and heat shields & the bolts for the windscreen.
zx10 rear pegs--black from the factory
zx12 heelguards--black(until I can get mine powdercoated)
Painted the inside of the shield black, cant see thru the damn thing anyway.

I've got a few parts getting mailed today, nothing major. The bike runs like a champ.

The main thing I've noticed is that there is a Lot of heat around the feet, especially my right foot. Anyone else notice this? Damn, thought my boot was going to melt. It was 102 & 75% humidity tonight. It was also 117 degrees on the way home yesterday...it felt just as hot on my right foot. All in all, a great night...only had to dodge two vehicles.

Agree 110% on that one.

Thanks, Blue. I don't care about getting flamed...its my ride anyway. I'm going with a Brock's ceramic coated system & removing the flies sometime around January. Until then, it will just be the smaller things.

This thing really looks menacing, but the black, in the desert, with no garage...SUCKS.
