So check out the service write-up I got today - "tech verified unit heavy pulling to the right when letting hands off steering". And then they go on to basically state that they all do it. What BS! They did give me the # to speak with Kawasaki directly which I will do on Monday. I just can't believe this crap...

Geez it's a good thing your bike doesn't smoke or miss 2nd gear otherwise we know what their answer is. "They all do that." Wow that's some real BS there!

Yeah, the exhaust notation is a joke, and anyone with half a brain knows it has nothing to do with the problem. The same goes for trying to say that they all drift to the right. I'll call Kawi on Monday and post up what they tell me...

California has a lemon law I bet. I would have an attorney write a letter Kawi USA and attach that tech report you have from the Kawasaki dealer and make sure you highlight that that the factory traine kawi tech noticed bike pulled to the right. I would be asking for a new replacement bike or your money back for a safety issue like that. Good luck

Spoke to Kawi on Sept 24th and was told that the dealership needed to confirm that the frame expert (shop originally recommended by dealership's gen manager) thought that there was a problem with the bike. Spoke to my contact at the dealership (the general manager) the next day and informed him of this (he had called the frame expert, who confirmed that he felt the frame was suspect, while I was standing in front of him on Sept 22nd when I picked up the bike). A couple days after that, the dealership called me and said that one of the owners was getting involved and was supposed to contact Kawasaki to discuss. I had not heard anything since so called the dealership today and was informed by my contact (general manager) that Kawi told him not to discuss the matter anymore with me. He told me all conversations are now to be directly between Kawasaki and me. Tomorrow I plan on calling Kawasaki to make sure that my assumptions are correct in that they have no plans to assist me in getting this matter resolved. My understanding of the lemon law in CA is that you have to bring the new vehicle in 3 times with the same problem without a resolution. But in this case, Kawasaki is claiming that there is no problem and that the bike pulling heavy to the right without hands on the bars is normal and that one should simply not take their hands off the bars. But they have no answer or concern for the problem manifesting itself to a much greater degree when the bike is lowered and launching at a drag strip . . .you know . . .doing what it was designed to do . . . .
So, small claims court is most likely going to be the outcome. No lawyers are allowed so it will just be me, my documentation, and whoever shows up from Kawasaki and the dealership. I'm suing them both since one loves to point the finger at the other.
This is really some sad stuff. I grew up on Kawasaki. My first bike was a 1978 KDX 80. I'm not saying that any other manufacturer would have treated me better - but this experience has me convinced that whatever the outcome, the 2012 ZX-14R will be the last Kawasaki I own.

I would also get videos of the bike with different riders to show it's not rider causing the problem ..The more proof you have the better for you .. Try to find another zx14R that doesn't do it and video it also with the same riders .. You can show them this video that other ZX14R don't turn left so why should yours ..

Not a bad idea, Lee. If someone on the forum in the Sacramento area has a 14R, I'd love to document the issue with video. Otherwise, the service ticket from the dealership, statements from the race shop as well as frame shop, and my history with and knowledge of motorcycles will have to suffice.

sorry to hear that bud. maybe we could get a petition going or something like that.... like smokin said, get as much evidence as you can for when you go to court. (if you go to court)
maybe they will try to blame you for the damage. they act like your riding without hands for fun. let them know that your fighting the bike to stay straight when you ride. maybe some of here with go pros can record ourselves riding the bike and demonstrating they run straight and then get the videos to you.

Why not use Kawasaki's videos against them?? There are sure a lot of video's out there with RG and Kawasaki's "zero to hero" contest at Las Vegas. I don't think I saw them having much trouble keeping the bikes in a straight line. There is also a good sized m/c drag racing event at Sacramento Raceway this Sat. & Sunday. May find a couple of ZX14R's there. Bring your camera. I may try to get there myself as I have a few friends that will be running.

Thanks Victor and everyone else for the suggestions. I called Kawasaki this morning and whom I spoke with confirmed that the matter is considered closed and that there is nothing wrong with the bike. See you in court, Kawasaki. Let the good times roll . . .
