I talked with carpenters racing, talked with bob himself he's going to do my head and cams with throttle bodies on my 14R. Cnc has said about 7hp with 47mm bore, they are 45mm stock. But carpenters has done 1 zx14r and after boring out the throttle bodies and just throwing them on the bike he saw only 3hp gain, but after he tuned it he got 6hp. He told me with the work he is going to do on my bike i should see 20-25hp gain. Also carpenters doesn't do their own throttle bodies,he told me they said them out to be done. Oh and bob told me if i just ported the head on the 14r i should see around 10-12hp throughout the range.

GJ,
why are you posting a bunch of info about Bob Carpenter's products on a thread asking about Jim Gilnack's Zx14 development status.

IMO, totally inappropriate.
Jim & Bob are competitors.

I am a 110% supporter of Bob, was in his shop yesterday; he is my "main man" go-to guy for my Busa's speed, my Greenie set new NA Mile record last Sun on his stuff. In other words, i am more than a casual fan of his...

But this thread is asking a direct question about Competition CNC.

Please let the question be answered.

If I were moderator, I would ask you to delete yr post and start your own thread about Bob's status.

You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

No. Im specifically asking about Mr. Jim Gilnacks cylinder heads for the 2012 ZX-14R. If i wanted Bob Carpenters info on same then i would have asked for it. Please lets keep this clean and not a competition between them two World Class Cylinder Head Guru's. Jim please chime in.

I recall him doing a head for Rg, but no stats as of yet. I pingged Rg a while back. I guess he is having too much fun riding that zx14r turbo bike that Chris Jones built.... lol

Did Kawi do anything to the 14R beside stroke the crank for 2012.. I thoguth i read somewhere that the 14R had some good head work already done to it. I only asked becasue i have been considering doin a head as well from either of the two..

The head id different .. It has a factoty port job from the factory on the intake side , the head also uses bigger cams .. If you look at the exhaust port it is MUCH larger than the Gen 1 zx14 ..

Smoking, so are you saying that there are some modest gains to be had with good port on the new zx14. From what i hear a port job, thinner head gasket along millig the head is what most are doing as well as keeping the facotry cams. I have talke to some guys an msot seem to think it could be worth 10-12 HP
