Actually makes sense to me, race on sunday sell on Monday. make them look like what a guy can walk in and buy off the dealer floor and maybe sales will go up.

When was the last time you turned on a road race and could even make out what brand bike was in the lead

Dodge used this in the 60s and 70s " race on sunday, sell on monday " Both in NASCAR , NHRA and AHRA Drag Racing programs .. It worked till Nader and high Insurance cost killed the Muscel cars .. Same thing could happen to bikes if they do this ..
Really it can't happen like it did in the 60s and 70s because dealers don't close on Sundays anymore.. So it would be race on Sunday and sell on Sunday ..

what's the problem with the factories making the race bike resemble the road bike? You already have prototype classes in MotoGP. WSBK are SUPPOSED to be linked directly with what is on the showroom.

Nice idea.
Most of the dealers around here are closed Sunday & Monday, so it would be "Win on Sunday, sell on Tuesday."

The top AMA bikes are generally close to factory appearing. The graves yamahas and yoshimura suzukis are obvious, but the various ducatis and bmws are always strange looking. The Yamaha r1s really stand out just because of the exhaust sound.

Those headlamp stickers obviously work. Tom Sykes pole position at Aragon blitzed everyone else.
