Heading to the strip Friday (29th)

I am due a tire change and thought what better way to retire it than at the dragstrip. I have not been to the strip in almost a year due to new job, moving, military retirement, etc....

I've got the bike set up for speed touring at the moment...but will put the front strap on, and set up the ohlins shock. Last time out I only managed a 6.38 or .39 in speed touring trim but that was with stock shock. I'll have my gopro onboard to document how rusty I've gotten. lol This bike has been 5.93 in SWB drag trim...don't think I will be anywhere near that though. I just hope to better my time in this set up from last year.

I'll be going to http://www.paradisedragstrip.net/ Never been there, so hope the people and track are ok. Anyone else in the Atlanta area...come on out.

I've got my stock 02 ZRX...need a strap though. I think I remember running a 10.99 in stock trim in San Antonio many years ago on my 03. SA is a slooooooooooow track...I've never turned any good times there.

If the track is cool and there are lots of bikes...I might just have to get the ol gal back in drag trim. uh oh....lol

Good luck at the track. It's just too hot here to consider going for me. Air temps over 100 spell doom for my old large arse. Drink fluids. Lots of 'em.

fook me it was hot! Track is a little 1/8th mile with minimal prep. Very low turnout (as expected with the heat), and only two bikes. My buddy with his 14 showed up and we made a few passes.

I only managed low 6.5s with total crap 60' times. Bike is totally different with the new shock and I didn't get enough passes to get a good feel for it. Traction was an issue as it would not hook up very well. There was a few big tire cars there running low 7s putting down a decent groove, but too little track prep.

I did get some videos, just have to upload them. I was riding like a wuss and not pinning the throttle at all. Best mph I got was 121.

Fun night playing around. Time to go put on new tires for the speed tourer.

ohlins

at stock height it's very difficult to do a burnout....the bike just squats and absorbs it and pushes forward. I felt like a noob. I have never had to use the water box to get the tire spinning on any bike I've had....but I had to this time. I didn't have any trouble with my buddies 14 with stock shock.
