There are some loud bikes but 84 db is just plain to low, any exhaust aftermarket is over that. A busa with a Brocks gen 3 can or 14 with that can is around 90 rough guess and those systems are pretty quite to me.

90 db isn't really loud when discussing aftermarket exhaust. Some off road parks like Silver Lake in MI actually measure sound 20" from the muffler at half throttle to enforce their laws and pretty much anything aftermarket on a ATV is over 100 db. My calibrated ear doesnt notice much difference between 100-120 db, but anything over that actually hurts. The stock exhaust on my raptor was 94, my buddy's new 450 was 88 db. That's at half rpm.
Just a guess, but a alienhead on a busa or zx14 is closer to 120 db at WOT, maybe even more.

these laws are made for one reason.... to take your money.

for the real assholes making noise, and doing sh*t to f*ck with their neighbors, the old generic "destrubing the peace" law would handle all that.

just go downtown, any downtown, there is a lot noisey sh*t going on.. why pick a sellect group of people to tell "shut-up or give me some money".

the answer, law makers are some thug ass thieves.

It will take a stock exhaust to pass 84 dBA, depending upon their exact test criteria.

Our ZX-14R CT Dual at an idle is 90 dBA and 105 dBA at 5000 rpm.... with our Quiet Core mufflers it's 88 dBA at and idle and 100 dBA at 5000 rpm.

The AMA suggested SAE J2825 standard for a 4 cylinder is 92 dBA at and idle and 100 dBA at 5000 rpm or 75% of redline (whichever is less/ SET rpm test method)

We can just pass the above, which is no easy task and only drop 1-2 RWHP in the procces... an almost impossible task these days.

they on purpose left out that the over whelming majority of people who call in....are women....and its not the noise, cause they wont complain when its a car or truck.....but the "motorcycle" represents a male thing....kinda mocha i guess to them......and its the "that" what the hate.....its scares them, and they get mad....bunch of damn feminists

....its getting to a point in this country, were you almost have to "apologize" for being a man

(yes,i know we have women on here, like Brenda : )....but thats a very rare lot....and i think they would agree with me....to some extent)

Regardless of the "why's", fact is the law is starting to crack down all over on loud bikes, and its just going to get worse. If all bikers in general could tone things down around the public, the issues would die down, but once it becomes a "big thing", everybody jumps on the bandwagon to quiet down those "noisy ass bikes"
And since the majority of bikers can't seem to see the writing on the wall, and quiet things down abit on their own, it won't be long before its going to be a pain to run an aftermarket exhaust without constant tickets and harassment. In cali as of 2013 any 2013 model bike (yep even Harleys lol) that gets pulled over gets an automatic ticket if it doesn't have an EPA stamped exhaust on it....stock in other words.....no questions asked. After three tickets bye bye license till the prob is corrected if I remember right. Google it.

I run my bikes as quiet as I can, mainly because I don't like riding a loud bike on long rides, and because I don't want to contribute to bikers losing the ability to run aftermarket exhausts in my area. I run a yosh with quiet insert on my busa and gixxer 11 (and still got good power gains and a huge weight loss), and a full exhaust on my turbo 14.

Hell the 14R is so strong stock I'd be fine with the stock exhausts if they didn't weigh so much.
