smokin and others who helped, once again ty for trying to provide some info i was looking for. if you ever happen to get it tuned on mr12 I would still be interested in what that does to it. Your setup seem to be the closest to what I am looking for. As I stated, there is a certain number I am wanting to acheive out of a handclutch streetbike, and if that platform can come close with those mods then other goodies might get me where i want. And to the other folks reading to much into it,, wow I just dont know what to say.

thats all they have ..that and the pump gas crap..
they tell you race gas don't work .. but when someone uses it and betters a time .. its the 1st thing they whine about..
Big foot i said it didn't work for ME !!! not everyone else .. clearly Brock got it to work running 8,80s on slugger at 160 MPH ... I told you i had no map for it , hell i didn't even have a pc on the bike at that time ..God only knows how long that can had been setting around .. Point is i don't want to spend 130 bucks to find out ..My hole goal was to run the numbers of these other so called stock motored bikes and do it on pump gas ... That to me will say more about what the bike can do that someone using 130 dollar race fuel ..
By the was i just got my wife home from the hospital , she is in a bit of pain but seems to be doing ok ..

Well i don't want to use MR12 .. i don't have the money to burn using it .. My hole goal was to see how fast the bike could go on pump gas with bolt on parts ..I think 8.47 in shitty air is pretty darn good for a stock motored bike ... In fact i don't think any bike has done that number on pump gas with a stock motor .. Please correct me if i'm wrong on that ...
My new goal now is with the mods i have is to run low 8.40s and maybe bust into the high 8.30s in good air this fall .. i believe it is not only possible but that it will happen ...Either myself or someone else may beat me to it ..
As far as the old zx14 i loved both of them and if kawi had not come out with this new bike i would still own one and do some engine mods to it ....I got the new bike for the upgrades and the new look as well as the extra HP over the old bike ... But i think a well built zx14 gen 1 will run with or out run a new zx14 if done right ... i'd bet money shane big motor would out run my bike no problem ..
It's up to you , buy a new zx14r or build a gen 1 zx14 ..Either is fine with me .
I gave you my numbers and my setup ..You can see what the bike will do in the rights hands..I really think you need to keep in mind that we have just started with this bike .. it has more to give as we find out what works and what doesn't .. Hell the first gen Busas are much faster today than in 1999.Years and years of R&D have made the bike do things we never would have dreamed 13 years ago ... Lets see what time and R&D does for the ZX14R ...
Whatever you do i'm sure it will run fast ...

I read it , i was not there and have no clue why it did or did not work .. old fuel ? It seems to work for a lot of people other wise why would people still be buying it ? I myself like the MR9 and it did work great for me ..If i could find fresh MR9 and had a map for it i might think about trying it after i run my 8.30s on pump gas ..

its funny how people buy race gas at the track, even if it doesnt help them. ive seen it alot. i used to run nitrous and used 110 octane, guys would see i was using it and bought it thinking they would go faster. i just laughed.

I watched a guy put 112 in his stock 08 busa this weekend at the track and I asked him what the hell he was running that for and he said he thought it would help when I told him we ran 87 or 89 pump gas he did not think I was telling the truth.

I get the same thing when I tell people that, I just gave up.
And for the record MR12 has kicked ass for me. I don't run it all the time, but it is fun every now and then.

We also like mr9 and had lots of luck with it, plus the temp stability. been running mostly on pump 87 with the temps going up, and lack of map for mr12. but still gun shy as to how the heat will very performance with it.

Bueller I got what you were asking about but as Smokin14 says it's up to you it was the same thing with the new zx10R after a while the times improved at the d/strip and track riding. What I can tell you is that my new 14R with just a Brocks A/h full system no map or ecu flashed is much faster and stronger than my stock motor 07 14 with full muzzy, flies,pc,I am referring to street riding, personally I would go for the new technology, lets put it this way when the gen1 14's were released the guys did't run as fast as they do now on them it takes time to develop a new bike.Anyway good luck with your choice of bike as long as you stay green
