Rotella T or Synth Rotella...just depends on what I can get at the time.

As long as you are changing it regularly, any oil is fine as long as it meets the specs MamaKaw wants in it.

Guys, what do you think? How many passes can you get @ the dragstrip before you need an oil change? I have been using Motul 300v, but damn that sh*t is expensive.

I change mine about 40 to 50 runs ..If it starts looking dark in the window i change it .. I may be wasting money doing it so offten but it makes me feel safer .. Better safe than sorry in my book .. I'm mean really i pay 13K for a bike and i'm not going to worry about a 50 buck oil change ..

we go alot more then that without issues. My buddy on his 08 Busa averages 30 passes every Friday night, rough guess He goes 300 passes or so before changing the oil. Bike will probably have close to 3000 passes on it by the end of this season as well as 7000 miles and bike just keeps getting faster.

According to the mobil 1 web site, the only 10w40 car oil they make is for high mileage vehicles. From what I've heard high mileage oils contain friction modifiers which are not supposed to be used with a wet clutch.

Really? I just went there and checked again. The only 10w40 oil they list is high mileage. They must be changing the website every time I go there. Remember I am talking about car oil.

You are correct....if it doesn't say Mobil 1.......it is conventional or a blend. People have been confused about this forever. There is Mobil 1 High Mileage in 10-40.......and it is full synthetic, but it is for higher mileage cars, and has conditioners to soften the seals in older motors. You don't want that in your new bike.

Mobil 1 15-50 is a great oil for the big bikes that may run a little hot. Real good price at Wal Mart. Same with Rotella T 5-40 synthetic.........great product at a great price.

Don't look past Amsoil either, outstanding product.

Availability is important when choosing your oil, especially if you are going to travel.

I will have to try the 15w50. I just figured it was too heavy.

Not at all. The guys using the lighter oils are usually drag racing and looking to get every horsepower they can to the rear wheel. The 15-50 is well within the reccomended viscosity's in your owners manual.

I did my first oil and filter change yesterday, 94 miles. I think my oil had more metallic in it than the paint does, holy crap it was glittering. Put a stock filter back on it and used honda 10-40 since I had 5 quarts on my shelf. It was very nice to be able to change the oil and filter without pulling any body work. I should have taken a picture but I had a straight piece of metal about 1/32" in diameter and .5-.75" long. Not sure where that would have come from.

After seeing all that is there a quality magnetic drain plug available for these. I got used to my KTMs and Husabergs having magnetic plugs and screens at all drain points.

Now that I think about it i'm hoping the long piece of metal wasn't from my transmission. It has happened twice now, sitting at a light, shift up from 1st into neutral (green light is on) let out the clutch to a big clunk. Trans wasn't really in neutral.
