2012 motor in a 2008?
wondering if any1 has slipped a 2012 engine in a 1st gen zx14? wondering if you could just swap engine in and then use 1st gen throttle bodies and computer? would like to get away from trac control. thoughts?

Isn't the '12 frame supposed to be all stronger & redesigned to handle all that massive new power. It will twist your gen1 into a pretzel, bust loose & take off on it's own.

any update on putting a 2012 14r in a gen 1 frame. Wonder what all a person would need to make it work?

From the limited look I got of the 2012 the engine and frame looked the same as my gen1. Most all the hard parts seem to swap from what I've read. I think the electronics might be a bigger issue than physically bolting the engine in. But we won't know till someone does it......c'mon Roy! lol
And if all these first gen frames (including mine) can take varying levels of boost with no prob I'm sure they can handle that little ole' 14R engine

This is great idea.. Just use the 2012 motor and nothing else .. Use the gen 1 wiring , ECU , TBs, Ect ... Doing so gets rid of all the T/C and other safe mods we are trying to get rid of on the new 14 .. Pull the flies ( you mostlikely did already on your gen 1 TBs )
Only down side is you will need a custom map ..
My guess is it will out run a Gen 2 easy ..

The gen1's a little lighter than the 14R too, so with some suspension mods you'd prolly have a quicker bike than the 14R that handled just as good

On the Gen 2 engines since the exhaust cam doesnt have a stud on it for the cam trigger how will it work with the Gen 1 wiring?

Where does the gen 2 get the signal from ? It has to have a place to get a signal to fire the injectors on the right stroke ..

Looking at the book it gets the signal from the crank sensor ..Maybe it is just a simple rewire to get it to work .. Roy is coming down to fl next week , i'll ask him to look at my bike and see if it's doable ..

Your timing will be off by the stroke difference. YOur torque will drop to under 114lbs with all the backdated ECU effort. Just a quick thought.

Plus the Gen 1 has a smaller airbox.. would be nice to flow as much in as it's gonna need.

A while back Jim at Competition CNC posted this information:
--Yep they did away with the cam sensors on both the zx10 in 2011 and the zx14 in 2012.
Now they have an extra map sensor and its plumbed to only the #1 (or #4 cyl i forget now) where as the regular map sensor is plumbed to all 4 cylinders to average out the vacuum signal and soften the pulsations the sensor See's.
They did leave the cast bosses in both of these heads which leads me to believe that it was an idea they had late in the development process and also that a map sensor and the machining of the head operations for the cam sensor must have been more expensive than a map sensor.
This is good news thou for cam swapping. no more need for a shaft coller on the cam for a trigger.--

How are the gen1 turbo 14's, and gen1 14's with built motors making it?

How are the gen1 turbo 14's, and gen1 14's with built motors making it?
they don't make no power like a stock zx14r ..duh..
