Fuel droplets/mist in air box intake areas...!

Opened airbox to pull flies...

Found fuel mist/dampness two or three inches in diameter around the air intake rubber ports.

Is this normal?

Any negative issues, or repairs of any kind needed?

1200 miles on ZX14r, steet driving not being raced.

What is causing this issue to occur?

Can you post a picture of the problem? I'm having a hard time imagining what you mean. Are you sure it's fuel? Have you ridden in rain? Perhaps it's just water that would easily be cured with a fender extender.

Never been in the rain, always covered in locked garage when not riding it. It is not oil, or coolant....has to be fuel. I already puilled the flies last night and reassembled won't take any pics...fuel mist/drops are pretty self-explanatory...around the perimeter of all 4 intake port areas.

Interesting...I installed the CT single a while back.I decided I didn't want it on there..removed it...when I did...the left hand airbox plug...as I pulled it out there was some sort of fluid that dripped out on my hand and on that plug.It wasn't fuel mist..it was something else very slippery.IDK...anyway...I reinstalled everything ....the CT and all...very happy with it.But that fluid...whatever it was...that's strange.I think Brock mentioned this on one of his posts...about doing some drag runs...and having 'fluid' get into the airbox...oil I think he said.HOW could THAT happen.I don't drag mine...but I get on it pretty good sometimes 'Out there"....If it's 'getting in the airbox'....then isn't it 'getting to the plugs"?And then what?

PS...I hadn't ridden through any rain...no washing either. You don't suppose the ram function is cousing moisture to condensate at high throttle operation do you?Sucking in air(cool air)and doing this? Most of my riding has been so far in temps around 48 to 55 dergrees. Some lower...

Ya...I'm not worried....it didn't look bad...just odd.Brock did say he had a substantial amout of oil in his 'test bike' airbox deal...that was doing drag runs.Back to back.

Maybe someone could explain here HOW vapor like that could get in the airbox to begin with?IDK how the piping is set up on these bikes.I though the airbox was like 'sealed' at the ram duct inlets and the outside air went straight into the airbox/throttlebodies.You mention blowby..ya...that's coming from where? The pair system?Honestly...I don't know.I'm not being a smartass with this question(s).

Is this wetness accumulative...in other words will it get more pronounced with riding in the future, especially if some high speed riding is done?

Will it evaporate on it's own, or should I open it up and go in and wipe it clean once every 6 months or so for safety?

The crankcase vent hose goes straight up to the airbox. So that is where the oil mist comes from.

Thank you Shane.I never really thought about what was doing what....not too much anyway

Brock's reporting of this deal...he was using 0WT oil as well...if that means anything.
