Speaking of brake drag......I just installed Galfer Wave rotors and HH pads. After a 330 mile ride I checked the drag and they were so tight I could hardly spin the wheel. I have clean fluid so I know it wasn't pressure from water vapor created by the heat. I also clean the calipers really well before installing. before the ride I took a short trip through the neighborhood to make sure everything was good to go and there was hardly any drag when I got back. I plan on taking the pads out and checking them.
Any recommendations on what else I can check?

spend the $2K or...
send both calipers to Thomas Miceli - cell 609 528 9466 who will do some lil magic mod (which retains the dust seals), and for about $50 each, poof goes the dragging.
I have used Thomas' caliper mod on my LSR zx12 and both my LSR Busas, no brake dragging whatever

If you're going to blow $2k on calipers you need to spend for ceramic bearings too, come on.

Not 2 grand on calipers, 2 grand for the kit. The thing rolls so easy now, I'd be afraid to put ceramics in it for fear it would just roll off on it's own

The zero drag is one thing, but the other is that these are the best friggin brakes I've ever used.

If you've just installed new pads it's likely that the pistons are pushed back further into the calipers displacing the fluid, have you still got an air-gap at the top of the master cylinder?. When you cleaned the calipers did you clean the pistons as well to get any dirt build up off the sides? If not then pump them out a little and clean them, then coat the sides with some silicon grease and it might solve the drag problem. You can buy caliper seal kits, a good investment. The only other thing I can think of is to check that the disc can float freely to centre between the pads.

Did you re-install the 'gaskets' between the wheel and disc, if not the discs will be slightly offset towards the wheel and could cause binding on the inside pad.

Seriously, the PFM brakes are awesome afaik. We have two different issues, braking performance, and non-contact drag. Those who are serious about performance pursue both....just my .02...
