Flat black and blacked out hardware coming back in style is the best thing that ever happened to "customizers".
A rattle can of flat black is way cheaper than chrome plating, powder coating, anodizing and Base-coat/clear-coat paint jobs.
It's not a wrecked bike with rattle cannned plastics, it's a rat rod! Hell Harley is making "special" blacked out versions of some of their bikes and have the nerve to charge more for them.
To me flat black says "I ran out of money."

when I was 17 I painted my NOVA flat black primer it took 11 cans to get it to look even
maybe they charge more because they have to keep driving back to the hardware store

take this bike right here ..2350.00 .. http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/2978604325.html
it look dated even with a lime paint job and more like a 1500.00 bike .. sell the seat get a flat seat, chunk the handle bars and get straight drag bars.. do something with the tail light after a look with the new seat .. put a small fairing on front maybe .. a road bar for your feet.... then ask 2500.00 as a custom...
