Hids installed w/vids
ddm 55w 8000k for both hi and low.
Had an issue with the relay harness (see thread http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=27&TID=66751&set_time=) Not running a relay right now. However, both low and hi fire right up
One thing I dont understand. Why do my hi's and low's look different from each in terms of color if both are 55w ballasts and 8000k bulbs?
IMO, the highs have such a nicer color. Highs have more blue in them while the lows are more white. Sometimes it almost looks like the lows have the ugly halogen color to them :headscratch
When the lows first fire up, they have that nice bluish color to them. Once they warm up they turn more white. After a few minutes it looks like they are turning into that halogen color. Is this just my eyes adjusting to the color?
Is this supposed to be that way? If it is, would a 10000k bulb for the low make it look a little more bluish like the 8000k low?

You should have ordered 4300K pure white on both bulbs...then no blue tint..and more visibility and you can see every imperfection in the road surfaces.....don't leave home without them!

it may just be your bulbs. I have the 35w 8000K set up and mine have the blueish tint all the time. I know my ballasts don't get as hot as yours do since I'm running 35w vs your 55w. and i dont know if the heat has anything to do with it or not.

I thought it was a bulb problem as well but i swapped around the bulbs from low to high and they look the same.
I need to re-aim the lows so maybe adjusting them a little higher may bring out some more color to the eye.

similar issue, I know exactly what you are talking about
I have VVME brand HIDS. The lows are 35w 8000k and the highs are 55w 3000k yellow. The yellow highs way over power the low beams, almost washes them out completely. So, I actually switched the lows and highs so yellow was now low beam. Now would you think the 55w yellows would still be brighter...not the case. Any bulb in the installed in the high beam projectors seem way brighter. Maybe the inside of the reflector is different from low and high beam. Anyway, back to your color change problem with the same bulbs mounted in all 4 projectors.
Is the brand you are using an inexpensive DC kit or a better quality AC kit? Its probably the way the high beam projector is throwing the light.
As far as 10k, dont do it IMO. Its too blue and not as bright. Im almost ready to switch to 6k myself. Hope my pics work.

I read your post with the relays. I agree, no relays needed. The stock wiring can handle the ballasts with no problem. Im pretty sure the ballasts draw less current then the stock 55w and 65w halogen bulbs
