I just bought one last weekend and have put 320 miles on it so far, All I can say is for the street it is the best bike I've rode! not in Busa or zx 14 land as far as all out speed but pretty damn fast. I love the upright seating postion and it's a wheelie machine! Ivans has a complete package out for it that adds 17 hp up top and even more through some parts of the midrange. let 2 of my buddies ride it and they both said it's a great bike and my one buddy said he should have looked at that before just picking up his used 08 Busa. You guys know I like speed and I was shocked at how this motor pulls throught the whole rev range. I picked mine up for 8400.00 with 1434 miles on it.

This bike is great in the twisties! it's a 1043cc older zx 10 engine same motor as in the newer z1000 not really sure which zx 10. If you where close to me 1bad you could take it for a ride. motor is just butter smooth. By the way mines an all black one. they are kinda hard to find used as 2011 was the first year for them. I will do the Ivans kit which is an akro pipe and a few other things down the road. By the way the windscreen is adjustable to 3 different positions by just pushing a lever. I was looking for either a used gen 2 busa or this for a street bike and so glad I went with this! I could throw soft bags on it and do 3000 miles in 4 or 5 days no problem. I could only guess how much fun it will be with the the flys out and 17 more hp!

I test rode the Ninja 1000 twice at a Kawasaki demo day a couple of weeks ago. I had read on various forums and bike mags that it had "unaceptable vibration" well it sure does and I was very disappointed as I really wanted to buy one but when riding the bike aggressively you feel a huge amount of vibration through the foot pegs and the seat and not as much through the bars. I couldn't believe that Kawi would make such a great bike with gobs of low end torque and then let it vibrate so badly that owners are selling them because they can't stand it. Don't believe me, take one for a ride and wack the throttle and around 3,500 and beyond and you will know what I'm talking about. Check out their forums and read all about it. Too bad!

I had a bking for awhile and it was a fun backroad bike but lack of wind protection compared to the ninja 1000.

Thats funny I read for 2 days on reviews and forums and read about how smooth the bike is and mine has very little if any vibration any where. My buddy got off it and his first comment was why can't suzuki make a bike this smooth. Wife has been on the back as well for about 125 miles and said it's smooth for her as well. I know my vstrom had more vibes as well as my last 2 busa's. My 14 might be just a hair smoother but not by much. Let me ask you this did you rest your feet on the mufflers? becuse if I move my feet back to where my heels are on the muffler then I get vibes, as soon as I put my feet further forward on the pegs I have almost no vibes at all. to me all bikes have a certain degree of vibes in the pegs and grips.

Here is a quote form motorcyclist mag when they named the ninja 1000 motorcycle of the year

Developed in tandem with the artfully underdressed Z1000, the Ninja’s 1043cc torque-pump makes the kind of smooth, useable power that puts a smile on your face a dozen times every day. Thanks to the miracle of spot-on digital fuel-injection, this engine is open for business with seamless acceleration from 2200 rpm all the way to its 120-bhp, 10,000-rpm peak. But since most of the herd come together toward the center of the rev band, even a casual rearward rotation of the right wrist stuffs dawdling traffic into those nicely shaped rear-view mirrors. Big midrange means all kinds of quasi-legal fun below triple digits—good news for those of us who just don’t look good in handcuffs.

You must of rode a bad one. ZRX's are the same way. My original motor was a buzz box. I've ridden 04 and 05 models that had no vibration anywhere. The 2000 ZRX1100 I just picked up is also very smooth. I don't think they held a very tight tollerance on the weight of their parts. I've seen 4 to 5 grams difference from rod to rod out of ZRX motors. ZZR's use the same rods.

you know ..you may be right.. i've rode some zx11's and zrx's that were semi smooth .. but that 2005 zzr1200 i had nothing could stop the vib.. 70 mph spot was the worstest spot too.. made a harley feel smooth .. i tried fork braces.. bb loaded clip-on's .. 24k miles later i sold it ..

Yeah if they are going to vibrate, they do it right around 4K rpms. Thats in the 65 to 70 mph cruising zone. That new Ninja 1000 is a nice looking bike. It would be my choice for a new street bike.

Unacceptable vibration. Who ever thinks that has never rode A bike. The only vibration I feel is in the gauge cluster. There isn't that much throughout the bike. It's got to have some of the best fueling and most useable power of any bike on the planet. It's a great bike and shares nothing with the zx10 as its a completely different power plant and geared much lower. In the back rodAs that bike is a blast and plenty fast. The ninja has decent wind protection where as the z is more street fighter and a in your face kinda bike. It will hang with any 600 on the highway up till the very top speeds. It has way more torque and likes to loft the wheel. All 600's have flat power and big hits some more then others. The z1000 has power everywhere anytime and all the time.

Why would you change tires after 600 miles? Are the stockers that bad?

Gotta say don't really see anyone going extensions with this bike, I mean really why would you. Buy a zx 10 if it's for dragracing. this was meant for the guy that wants to longer trips but have a well handling bike as well as comfort. just my 2 cents

My stock tires are fine, i'm not pushing the bike hard yet but I only have a 1/4 inch chicken strip left on each side, they have 2100 miles on them with plenty of life left, a good enough tire I would not throw money away buy replacing them before they are worn out!
