Little oil leak
So... Was looking at the plastic damage with my painter today and noticed an oil leak (2007 with 8500 miles on it). I've gone through some of the old posts on here and found that guys just slid an m10 washer under each bolt. Have just a few questions. Did it solve the problem? How long does it usually take/how much does it suck (6'10" - massive hands)? Whats the torque setting for the bolts? Thanks for the help the other day guys, would appreciate any experience you have on this.

You didn't say what was leaking? Assume valve cover, no?.. that's a known leaker. Still.. you did not specify. ???

Oh my mistake. Yeah I meant the valve cover. I read putting brass m10 washers between the bolt heads and valve cover allowed it to torque it down just a little more.

The washers work for some people. Its not that hard of a job just be careful not to snap a bolt follow the torqe spec. Im doing mines now but i need to replace my gasket its a little rip

I did just the two on the left side of the valve cover. No more leaks

Noted @lou... Yeah it seems like it's only leaking from my left.

+1 And has not leaked since just DO NOT re-torque to factory spec that’s too tight just watch the gasket squeeze a little!

My 06 had the same oil leak. I put washers on the left side 3 years ago and it hasn't leaked since. No new gasket.

Same here. Just put the washers on the outside bolts on both sides and no more leak

Thanks guys. Do you remember what you torqued them down to, if not the suggested torque?

Just washers under the left (kickstand side) 2 bolts and I did not torque them to spec I just tightened them down until the gasket started to squeeze just a little!!
