quote: I jet Hot coat all my drag car headers.. Why ? Because it's mild steel and it will rust in a very very short time ... These motors make anywhere from 750 hp to 900 hp and it is possible that it may make 2 or 3 HP because of the coating .. They seem to run a bit cooler also .. But only seeing 2 or 3 hp on a big HP motor means you will see less or none at all on a 200 HP motor like ours .. We are using stainless Or TI so it not likely to rust anytime soon ..I have a Jet hot coating shop just down the street from me and i can tell you they CAN not completely coat the inside of the pipe .. Outside yes , inside NO .. I would say if you want it for looks or to controll a bit of the heat on your motorcycle go for it , but if you are looking for extra HP forget about it ..
I agree...... I was Sales&Tech Support Manager at D&D Performance Exhaust for many years. We used Jet Hot for many years and when D&D purchased a new Super Flow Eddy Current Dyno in 2000 and we tested a 4/2/1 system on my 1998 ZX-9R back then with a regular steel system and then a Jet Hot coated ...... no difference in HP and there was only a hour or so between Dyno runs. You are correct about the coating inside a system for a motorcycle. Rust and less heat was the main selling points I pushed when asked on the phone or on the webb site back then.

Does this mean the wrap for headers also just minimize heat and not increase horse power?

I didn't ask about wrapping the headers....a motorcycle application for the street probably isn't necessary.....I would think the coating will be fine as it will reduce engine / exhaust temperatures about 300 degrees.....

On a air cooled motorcycle that is going to be road raced for 100 miles etc.yes wrapping the head pipes will help cool the engine and NOT loose any power due to heat.

Ok guys! I went to Jet Hot today while they were open! I met Mike. The facility is very nice and very clean! I was told there has not been any test done on motorcycles to see if there is a horsepower gain... I wil say yet! Oh! and somebody's pipes are on the way back to him! I hope you like the way they turned out!

Coatings are not a majical wand for hp, but they are a handy tool for heat control
you will have much less radiant heat on your radiator and sump with the coated exhaust.
I use it a lot (hpc actually but there all similar) on my turbo bikes, every bike i work on gets the thermal coating on the pistons,
and i have used coatings on headers , turbos and full exhausts to reduce heat transfer
& esp if using mild steel... for surface protection

The head pipes will NOT turn Blue on the silver cermanic coating....I have system they did back in the mid 1990's and it still looks good with 30,000 miles on it... I do rub on it with some Simichrome metal polish every year or so. I have seen Brocks Spam on here and Muzzy spam too.

lets stay on the good foot. If I were working for them I'd be promoting or trying to make sales....you know, something to benefit me. Wheelie I'm not sure if this is part of the "fun" , but it does mot feel like it to me. If you were in the area where Brock's is located and posted pics proving you were there, I would not call your post "spam".
