Project 1534cc gone, new project and something I have never seen
OK did some horsetrading with project 1534cc Busa build. I ended up getting this bike in the deal. A 2003 40th Annv. limited edition Busa that had several problems. one I had never encountered ever on a bike. First the bike looks really good. It is pretty clean but it had several wiring problems and no rear brake working when I brought it home. Here is a pic of it and you can see the caliper is not on and there is no brake bar.
So after a week of working on the wiring harness and getting all the bad spots soldered back like they were suppose to be I got it to fire off and run good. See the bike at one time had an airshifter and a Nitrous kit on it and the wiring harness was cut up in several places. Even the fan was run by a manual toggle switch so I had to fix all of that stuff. Also it has an ECU flash and a toggle switch for the nirous mode and all motor mode. The toggle switch is tied into a relay on one of the wires going to the ECU. If you flip that toggle switch it goes pig rich so I am assuming that is the nitrous position. I left that like it was but not sure how it does it?? Now here is the good part. I get the bike warmed up and start off down the road. sounds good, pulls hard.....WTF!!!!! It shifts 1st, 2nd, 4th, 3rd, 5th, 6th. At first I thought it was me so I do it again. Same thing. I have never had this happen on a bike in all the years I have been working on bikes. So I go home and pull the motor out of the bike.
Her is what I found. First it had some case damaged repaired in the past. It was dome right and tig welded inside and out. someone had sent these off to be repaired. I am OK with this repair but here is a pic of the repaired area. The chain must have come off and got the case.
After splitting the case I saw what was the problem. I set another spare trans shaft I had up to compare. Yep 3rd and 4th are on the shaft backwards. you can see in the pic the top one is the one that came out of the bike. the bottom one is an extra I have. count over from the right and you can see 3 and 4 (big & small) are backwards on the one that came out of the bike. same on the other shaft. I have never seen that before. one good thing is the trans has been undercut and it's an easy fix.
While I had it apart I checked the rod and main bearings and they look almost new. I am going to order some new rod bolts and put it back together. You can see where the case was welded on the inside in this pic.
I am going to put the ported head and a thin head gasket back on with two intake cams. I have a total of about $2000 in the bike so far not counting my labor. If I can ge $5000 to $4800 for it I and the Rhino sells I will have worked my way to enough cash to buy a new 14R. And that was my goal anyway.

No, I had a guy that begged to get it.just like it was. I heard he put a little light weight rider on it and they flipped it over backwards on the first pass out in test and tune. It was only at 65" inches because I had put a bigger sprocket on the back. I told him to get a new chain and put it back at 68" to 70". They had it tuned but I never heard what kind of numbers it made. I guess it was pretty stout from what I heard, I did not see it happen. This is going to be a streetbike. ride to work type of bike. The other one was race only.
