No Power Commander Yet for ZX14R?
Want to get my new full exhaust system installed soon after getting the bike home. Since no Power Commander is out yet for this model of bike...how safe is it to go ahead and drive the bike without a PC being installed with a full system?
If the ECU is reflashed, could that work in lieu of having a Power Commander installed and properly mapped/
Do we need both a Power Commander and a ECU reflash to make this bike operate at best efficiency?

Ive been running my bike with the cans removed, only the header, no PC. The bike runs fine not even a hickup besides being really loud.
I rode 500 miles or so and then took the cans off and left the header without a PC or ECU reflash. The bike uses an open loop system so ECU recalibrates everthing so the bike doesnt fall on its face or something along those lines.. Someone else might wanna explain that one better. I can barely tie my boots.
Like Smokin said many folks here who are running the 14R with full systems have not installed a PC or are running the PC's without a map.
I might reflash my ECU, but this bike is pretty much more than enough for me stock so Ill be leaving the bike alone besides the reflash. I like removing the cans cause the bike looks good with the butt end clean so you can appriecate all the new gizmos..
It doesnt sound bad either... I can live with it from time to time and it only takes 20min to install or remove the cans...

I don't think he was worried about all out power as much as he was it being safe.
Goldwing, like smokin said, read some of the topics on the first and second page. Most of the guys are running their 14 without it.
