running the HP numbers on the 14R
I had a little extra time this morning. So I decided to run the two hp numbers posted by RG, the 14R against the 08 14 using both dino numbers posted by RG. This is what I got.
2008 ZX14 cc 1353 = 82.5 cubic inches, divided by 197 hp = 2.387 hp per cubic inch
2012 ZX 14R cc1441 =87.9 cubic inches, divided by 214.88 = 2.444 hp per cubic inch
This is a 5.4 cubic inch gain 5.4 x 2.387 = 12.89 hp gain from just upping the cubic inches
But! the 14R makes 0.057 hp more than the 08 model 0.057 x 87.9 cubic inches = 5 hp
So we add 5 hp for the upgrade and 13 for the cubic inches = 18 hp
So where did the upgrade come from, a improved reported head, larger exhaust cam, reconfigured cam timing, these are just the changes that I know of.
So 18 hp is about what I saw on the two dino charts, which sounds about right. I know that there are variables in these numbers as the new 14 does not have a power commander yet. But the old 14 was running on u4 compared to the new 14 running on MR 12. From the air fuel numbers I'm seeing. I don't think there's going to be a big pickup with the power commander, as the numbers I'm seeing or in the 12 .9 to 13.1 range. I know that these are only at average of numbers taken by two different bikes at two different times. but I thought some of you might like to see what it looks like on paper.

The other thing about that 08' zx14 197 hp post is it says nothing about the entire curve...I'm pretty sure the entire rpm range is bulkier on the 2012 14R

I'm sure the 14R will give more low-end torque. As long stroke motors always do.

I guess it depends on who's Dino in the bike, and what methods they use to get their number. Bocks posted 196 hp on the 06 14 . I'm not big on dinos, I use horsepower to weight at the track. because if you can run the et it's hard to mess that up. You may make more horsepower than what it says. But you can't make less.
here is an example, a bike and rider weighing 670 pounds @ 196 hp = 5.572 @ 127.38 and 8.775 @ 155.38
Now let's add 18 hp to that number 196 + 18 = 214 @ 670 pounds = 5.411 @ 131.16 and 8.522 @ 159.95 these are only computer-generated numbers, but they are usually pretty close.
