Pricing the 14R
So I found a dealership about an hour from home (Sacramento) that has what I want - the green SE model. Talking with the salesclone on the phone, the best deal he could go is leaving off frieght and prep - so basically $16,200 OTD is what he told me. Maybe I need to get in the mindset of waiting for a year until these things cool off a bit. Although he did say he could make me a great deal on an '11 - Ha! I'm sure! They are probably practically giving them away at this point. So anyway, I feel like the price quoted is a total hose job. What do you guys think?

this is bad news
"Effective March 1st one of our manufacturers (we sell all 4 Japanese manufacturers and its not HONDA, SUZUKI or YAMAHA) is demanding all dealers post only manufacturers suggested retail pricing on websites or in any advertisement. We feel this policy is illegal and plan to challenge it."

I'd buy the 11 and put a turbo kit on it. Save money and make more power. Than that 2012

Hell no... That is outrageous... I think with riding season here soon the prices might not go down much... ( demand and supply)... Remember this, u pay 16k now u lose about 8k in 2 years.. it is ur money..u can do a lot with that 8k.. I know I can
Motorcycle is not my primary transportation... I ride mostly on Sundays, the rest it sits in the garage.. I don't believe on financing bikes... Unless I am jay leno I ain't paying 16k for a bike to mostly look at it..

Thanks fellas - although I love the new style, extra fan, all the other goodies, etc., I think I'll just stick with my '06 for now.

Pricing ZX14R
CraZX14: Having owned many motorcycles, and I have been riding for many decades... Life is short...really short. I can tell you from my own personal experience; the current ZX14R is a very different bike than any other year, of ZX14's, (I know because I have owned them) I am an average rider...never have done any kind of racing like the people on this site have. I could not hold a candle to the majority of sportbike riders.
I like taking very good care of my machines, I ride my ride, and enjoy the heck out of these bikes; I have actually-accidently, gone over the speed limit all over United States, Canada, Alaska, three of four million times. One question thou; not knowing the California tax sytem per se... is the sales taxes for State, and/or county, etc. causing the price to be where the dealer says they need to be? Money is by far, the most important factor when making purchases...
Ageeable for sure about the comments others have posted...they make sense. So my 2 cents is get the bike...there are many other aspects, that make this bike worth having, period. Can you purchase in another state? As the riding season picks up across the rest of the Country, like Montana, you may come across some very good deals on a low mile 2012 ZX, a little farther into this riding season, maybe be a little flexible starting out to an opportunity like that. Brand new is fun... not terribly bright if money is at the top of your concerns...Live life...get the bike.

"A fool and his money are soon parted". "Life is short, and you only live once" -Ahhh, which philosophy shall I lend myself too?! Lol. But seriously, I can totally see each side of the coin. Money isn't a concern - it's how much of it the dealer wants that bugs me. If I could get it OTD anywhere in the $14k area, I'd jump. But $16k would just sting a bit too much. I'll TRY and wait patiently until I can find a better deal :-)

Everyone here knows the California models have extra emissions BS and less HP and I’m sure you have to pay extra for that and so in my opinion if you must have one go to a different state to get it!

He can't go to another state and buy one .. Well he can but if he does it has to have 7500 miles on it before he can get i a calif tag for it ..
Calif sucks that way ... The dealers can jack up the price because they know you can't get around the 7500 mile law with a brand new bike ....

Found a great dealership in West Virginia Romney cycle they had all three colors blue and black for 12,999 and my green for 13,199! So look at different states its worth the drive or have them deliver it to you good luck!

CraZX14:
I am about to dive into the dealer pool for a 14R in Florida. Like you I have a threshold of "pain" price wise. Maybe you can find one priced right a smaller dealer away from big metro areas in Cali since you have the means to pay the number that works for you. On my end, I am starting with the dealer I got my '07 from, but prepared to go out of state if I can't make a deal with them because other local dealers are a waste of time.
Good luck bro,

If you buy one in PA I will gladly put 7500 miles on it for you so you can take it to CA. I think I could do it in 2 or three months. lol
Hell technically if you flew out and drove it back it'd only need 5K then the trip to Cali.

Snuffy ZX What dealer with this low Pricing?
Hey Snuffy...
Dan you advise the name of the dealership or phone number who has this low out the door price on a new 2010 ZX14R?
My best here is 14, 947.59 plus my tag, which is $150.00.
This bike is getting too expensive to own.......they have a 2011 new left over for 11,500.00 plus tag.....but want the new one...
Anyone else have a decent price on this bike in Green?
