High Insurance Precludes Purchase of ZX14R!

Just got a written quote from Progressive insurance for full coverage for me per year......$2,435.00 and that is having my car and my C-14 insured with Progressive Insurance company....no accidents, every safety course, no tickets, no accidents!

This blows me away as I was ready to buy a new one later this week.......and it now puts it out of practical driving reach for a mature homeowner with outstanding credit and NO driving issues or claims!

This costing includes 25,000.00 in medical payments too, so maybe that is the big increase on this machine....

Interested in hearing other insurance quotes per year for members with full coverage on this bike too.....

Progressive wanted $4200 to insure my '06 14 when they first came out.

Shop around. State Farm is generally the cheapest for full coverage. I have Geico at much less than your quote.

I have the same driving record you do, I have progressive and paid 605 last year for 250/500 limits with 5k medical payments and that was with an extra $5000 for custom accessories. Its dropped about 100 a year since I insured the bike 3.5 years ago. You should just buy mine and ride it down to Florida and save big!

Insurer's don't like to see hp increase on bikes, especially by a whole bunch at once. Thats one reason the bike makers try to just creep it up.....they know most folks finance and won't buy a bike if the insurance is through the roof. Makes it even more impressive that kawi said f you to everyone in charge and made a beast of a new 14 like they did!

Welcome back to the world of balls and super fast bikes kawi.....we missed you lol.

Well now if that is true maybe I need to start shopping around a bit.....I just switched from Safeco last week and dropped the rate on my c-14 cut the rate about 60.00 per month...so thought I was doing great.....when I asked about getting the Zx14R, I just got that quote this afternoon and even my agent said it was way too high!

State Farm for the win................you must have a car or truck insured with them to insure your bike, but the savings will be more than worth transfering a vehicle over. I know someone who bought a $200.00 non running car, put liability only on it ( through State Farm ) and saved $1200.00 a year on his 14 over Progessive.............check em out............

State Farm is $60 a month full coverage on the 2012 R. AARP was was $6k a year. Quotes went from obscene to OK. Let your agent know that you are a responsible rider with a good record. Tend to think that the agents take advantage of performance machines and pocket the rest. You are Gold as far as insurance agents go. No activity, no problem.

i dont think the power increase has anything to do with it. I have Progressive and on my policy it still shows it as a 1352cc bike. I also just got a quote from state farm and theirs also shows it as a 1352cc bike.
By the way Progressive im paying $725 for the year with just comprehensive state farm just quoated me $317 for the same coverage, its time for a change lol, too bad they couldnt come close to progressive on the auto coverage.

You don't have to have a vehicle insured with state farm to insure your bike. I have my bike alone with them and it's only $600 yr

be aware of some insurance companies give you lower rates but their policy is in case you need parts to fix your car or motorcycle in case of accidents, they do not replace them with OEM parts and use after market...

I just got quoted 848.00 for the 12R. From Allstate. I pay 497.00 for my Diavel. 46 yrs old. 800 plus credit, no tickets or accidents. Progressive wanted almost 1600.00 for my Ducati last year. Their rates in N.Y. seem to be getting out of hand.
