AFR w/Smeg, no PC.
I've seen where the AFR is not too bad w/the full exhaust and no FI controller at full throttle on the dyno. However, I always note it's much higher (Seems around 14.5-15.) under 4K'ish rpm's, and this is at full throttle. I thought I heard somewhere that it would go notably leaner at partial throttle settings. If that is the case, is this thing really safe to ride on the road, in traffic, high temps, etc. w/no PC. Commuting is going to mean a goodly amount of riding at low rpm. Anything concrete or knowledgeable on the matter? I've gotten a couple of brief answers (And I appreciate the help.) but I haven't seen or heard a really satisfying answer. I surely don't want to cause any problems to the new bike before the PC-V's and Brock's maps are ready.
Thanks in advance.

And that is exactly why I ask. I may wait to ride it much, or at all, until after I have the PC and map in it. I have other bikes to ride...but I sure hate to let this one sit.

Got CT single, no pcv, daily commute. Slight hesitation at very, very light throttle, but no other issues. Done nearly 4000k's

That's what I understand. Any idea what the AFR is, especially around that "very, very light throttle?" I'm just wondering if dangerously lean will necessarily manifest itself in noticeably poor driveability issues. And, yes, the possibility (and the lack of hard numbers) makes me paranoid and drives me crazy. It's not easy being me...
Thanks much for the feedback.

Whereabouts you from? Europeam and aussie bikes have an oxygen sensor which will compensate on light throttle and while cruising. Im not to concerned

U.S.: Atlanta, GA. I know it compensates. I hope enough. The numbers on the dyno's in the U.S. look really lean down low, though. Worse at partial throttle? Hmmm...

I am not so sure that the 14R isn't very lean at small throttle openings, as it comes from the factory:
"For the green at heart, Kawi fortified the injection system with an ECO mode that manipulates timing and fueling adjustments for a claimed 20-percent increase in economy-and based on the 41-MPG we noted at 85 MPH, we believe them."
What I have seen in ECO mode is 14-15:1 AFR, with the CT-Meg and no mapping.

after plugging the clean air hose, I'm getting an accurate a/f reading on my data logger, can post the numbers when I get home from the track today..

I know the dyno is at wot and it still shows pretty lean around 4K and under on the dynos. That's what has me worried about partial throttle at those same revs, which will certainly read higher AFR's. Brock's says it's fine for street use w/o the PC but I know they specialize in wot stuff. Commuting is another story. My OCD and paranoia won't let go. Any good data is much appreciated.

For what it's worth, AFR on Euroean models in the closed loop area (ie low revs low throttle openings) is 14.7:1 from the factory!

I know some guys that run theirs at 15 or 16 cruising around for fuel mileage. I know this makes them run hot. I run mine at 13.5 cruising around, and 12.9 at the track. I wouldn't be afraid of 14.5 at cruising speed, but I don't like the extra heat added.

Great info (For me, anyway.). I'm much obliged. That eases my mind enough to ride it w/just the exhaust. Exactly the feedback I was looking for.
Thanks much to all involved.
