zx14 vs hayabusa

the new zx14r is propably the quickest accelelating motorbike at the moment ,stock for stock and believe me coming from me is a lot to say.But lets not be carried away too much ,for the busa is not far behind and is still the only bike with modifications to run the 1/4 mile stock motor in 8.42 sec. I have been challenged by lee (smokinz) to run against him in florida, but as i weigh about 50lb more than he is in full gear, if i am wearing nothing but my gstring, i think it would not be a fair race. However if you modify these 2 bikes at the same level (exhaust, tune ,extensions etc, without touching the motor, you will have 2 bikes of similar performance. Lee is yet to crack into 8,4s and i know that he is 1 of the best drag racers in the business, with his 130lb of body weight and the skills to match, so i am still waiting for somebody to beat that time before bowing down to this newcomer.
anycase we talking only about 0,0secsomething

There will be a lot of bowing, ducking, and sucking this year.

Lets be realistic? The new 14 is at least 25 hp more than either the old 14 or the busa.
You wanna believe your busa is quicker, that's your choice.

i believe he's talking stock off the showroom floor body weight and hp .. and we saw nobody (other than rickey) did any better in stock trim than what they did on a gen 1 zx14 ..

but since he's comparing apples to oranges .. a pro rider on a trick out busa VS a joe blow (sorry smoken) on a mostly stock zx14r running really close ... i'd like to see them 2 in a heads-up race for all the balls. since brock wants to sell zx14r parts and he owns the busa in question .. i think brock and teasley and smoken should all get together 1 afternoon.. i'd even pay to go see that .. SHOW DOWN @ Valdosta ..has a nice ring to it ..

Suzuki claims a curb weight of 573 for the Busa, Kawasaki claims 584 for the 14R. 11 lbs of difference. 20+ hp is HUGE.

I mean, I understand brand loyalty, but at some point you have to take the blinders off. When a Busa fan makes these kind of posts, it is obvious they have a bit of a chip on their shoulder due to the 14R. They are both great bikes, but time marches on....and the 14R is a big leap forward.

In 1999 when the Busa first came out I got one. I'm by no means a pro rider, it took me 6 passes just to run 6.90s(mostly because
of the Hayabusa's clutch, it would ether spin the rear or wheelie. I still have the bike and a few other Suzuki's. I also have the new
14R and on it's first time at the track it ran 6.50's stock, why, because time does not wait for anyone!

Forgive me for putting my .02 in, since I don't drag race (yet), but if you take hp/weight ratio, the 14r is the clear leader. Both bikes run close to 2.5 lbs/hp at stock trim. if you add 25lbs and 20 hp to either bike, that drops the lbs/hp ratio a full percent. Given that rider skill is the biggest factor, and the hp advantage along the entire curve is second, there is no question which is a faster bike.
Having said that, one or two years and Suzuki will put out a faster Busa, and it will start again.

Anyone see the March issue of Superstreetbike? The front cover has a picture of the ZX-14R and the Hayabusa and it says 'Once and for All! Street, strip, and dyno tested.' One of the quotes in the article says "When ridden back-to-back, the ZX-14R literally made the Busa feel slow."
The Busa is a good bike, there's no doubt about that. I guess it's just hard for the Busa owners to admit the 14R is a quicker and better overall bike.
The 2012 ZX-14R is for real, no matter how many doubters there are.

That was a good article, but, it is getting boring just how many times you have to read how the 14r is superior in almost everyway to the Busa. I got my Cycle World in the mail today, and the 14r is on the cover again. Makes me wish I would have waited a year to get my 14, then I would have the 14r.
