Akrapovic exhaust differences??
Can anyone tell me why there are two separate part numbers for the ZX14 Akrapovic full exhaust with Stainless steel headers and Carbon fiber muffler?
Part number S-K14R1-RC says for model years 2006-2007
Part number S-K14R2-RC says for model years 2008-2010
The research I have done shows about a $280 difference in price between them.
Does anyone know what differences there are between these two part numbers?
My bike is a 2009--- why wouldn't Either one FIT????
Would really appreciate the opinion of the experts as I don't want to consider saving $280 and then end up with an exhaust that does NOT fit properly.
Thank you

according to akrapovic website S-K14R2-RC is the correct one for your bike. Does yours have an O2 sensor? Because 2006-2007 does not so that may be the difference?

Ricardo, the mounting brackets are all the same on any ZX-14, maybe the canister is slightly different. or maybe the 2006-2007 Akrapovic didn't have a O2 sensor bung welded in it. I see no reason that exhaust would not work on your 09.

Do the 2008 & up have an O2 sensor or do the pipe manufacturers just add the bung for use with auto tune?

the difference is the header outlet size is different 06 07 than 08 and up, dont understand how that makes the price change so much, it was the same way when i bought my two brothers slipons but only by about 30 dollars also ive read you can buy the ones for the 06 07 and take them to a muffler shop and they can stretch the opening to make it fit, not something i would ever try but i read it on another forum so dont even know if that would work.

Imo, I wouldn't bother with the Akrapovic. For $995 you can get a 20" Gen 4 Brock's that will likely be quieter, and defintely have a better map. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Shane,
Would you provide a link for that pricing so that I can investigate further?
Thank you

In my case, I've owned around 60 bikes, most of them sportbikes with aftermarket full systems. Most current generation sportbikes have good factory exhaust systems. They couldn't make the power they do if they didn't. Of course, we always want more, and a good full system and tuning will get that. At this point in my life (turning 65), I'm tired of listening to the noise, so I'm considering a set of slip ons for my new 14R. Why would I ever consider this? Because they will probably look better, give a bit more performance, but, more importantly, they will drop 20 lbs. off the bike.
Just my opinion.

Both TI ans SS are nice pipes no matter what you choose. The welds and bends are amazing. Take a close look at the header. Hope this helps in some way. cheers

I just got my full Ti Akrapovic system installed. It weighed 8.5 pounds with all the springs, sleeves, and decibel reducer. Heading to the dyno in the next couple of weeks for a custom tune, so I will report back with final numbers.

how much did you end up paying for that system? It looks so nice! I had the same system on my CBR1100xx. The fit and finish is second to none.

It noses over on top a lot...that is not the norm for a 14...hard to tell much from the graph, though. I'm used to reading stuff from Winpep 7. Also, rpm is much more useful than mph! Suffice it to say that stock motor/pump gas 14's turn about 175 hp +/- 3 on the norm., with a great pipe...but all dyno's are different.

Snagged it off Ebay from a dealer for $850 delivered. It was a display model, never used, came with original packaging.
They kept dropping the Buy-it-Now price. I followed the auction for 2 months.
