zx14 head milling ?
I currently have my head off and was going to have it milled .020. But then I've been reading about a 60/40 cut on the head and was wondering if any valve work was needed for this to be done. This is mostly street driven with some track. I have adjustable cam sprockets and was also wondering what numbers to use when degreeing the cams in going either way?

Do the .020 or even .030 mill, it will aloow you to do other stuff like porting down the road if you chose, if you do the 60/40 the head will be pretty much useless for anything else.

What kind of power increases do you expect with .030 and what cam numbers should be used?

.020 will give you right at 13.1 ... If you go 40/60 15.1 maybe more ..
Here is the deal .. cut the head 20 ... use the stock head gasket ... set cams to 105 105 ... Seeing you have to remove the valves to mill the head do a light blowl clean up on the intake side .. Don't worry about the exhaust side ... 13+ HP increase in power ... Trust me been there done that and it works ..

So 105/105 is optimum for this setup? Are ported throttle bodies worth anything on this setup?

105 105 are the best numbers ... Can't say about the TBs , never tried them ...

I just had my head done by osr and they milled 20 off and we put the cams in at 105/105 so I hope I see a noticable difference this spring at the track!

Not yet, just got bike together. Will be in the near future.

I milled the head .025 and set cams at 105/105 and put carpenter springs in it and took it to the dyno and it made 196hp, they suggested moving the rev limiter up 500 because it was still climbing, do those numbers sound right?

Not sure if it matters but bike was dyno'd with 93 octane and is sitting at 67 inches with power one tires

Milling the head 60/40 will give you 13.2 to 1 that's all you will ever get from milling the head because you are right at the 45 seat angles.
We do the 60/40 in our super-sport head package along with a valve job that reshapes the seat profile and choke. We also do some work on the short turn of the intake ports as well as some exhaust port work.
With our bored out 47mm throttle bodies and mr-12 fuel we have seen 210 rwhp on Brocks dyno. Cams were at 110 on the intake and 108 on the exhaust.

No I didn't but I was expecting more, I just bought the bike a couple weeks ago

Jim, what are you charging for your SS head package? That sounds like a streetable CR and setup?
