Harbor Freight bike lift ...

I did a little work for a friend on his 67 hemi GTX the other day ( didn't charge him because he is a friend ) and he shows up to my shop with a brand new Harbor Freight bike lift for me ..

I have allways wanted a bike lift but i wanted a real heavy duty one and they cost so much i never did get one ...After putting together the Harbor freight unit it looks good .. The one thing i didn't like was how it held the front tire ... So i took my floor chock and bolted it the bike lift ... Man is it nice now, and it works great ! Easy to get on and easy to get off .. I can drive right on and hop off and not worry about it falling over or strapping it down ... But i will strap it anyway to be safe ..

This is the part i didn't like about the lift ...

I have a couple of them that I mounted Condor Trailer chocks to. I think I paid $279 each for the lifts, on sale. They are nice, but watch for them to drop if you don't have the safety bar in them. One of mine tends to slowly lose height, lol.

I also found that certain oils or fluids will bubble up the paint quickly, so watch for any driips from whatever machine you have on there!

I could go $279, but right now their site says $$599.99.

That's a bit too much, IMHO.

Watch for coupons in some of the Harley magazines, someone at work gave me a head's up and I ran and bought the two they had. Great deal for the price, imo. Once you have a lift, you will be spoiled. Probably could have saved my back and knees!!

I bought my HF lift in 2001, still using it practically daily, never an issue w/hydraulic fluid or any other issue.

The HF wheel vice was junked immediately and replaced with a Handy vice.

WOW....I always had my doubts about how strong that lift was because of the price, I guess I was mistaken cause the 14R looks right at home on it.

I wanted a lift but didnt wanna break the bank so I made a lift at work with a old time welder and all it cost was a bottle of wine and $60 bucks for the piston.

Here is what it looks like:

You really should look at making a lock for your lift. If the piston fails or leaks down, down goes your bike. Just a little extra insurance. Looks great through.
