gstring, you're saying because the Busa out-accelerated the 14 in top gear it must apply to all the gears?

Ah, ok. I bow to your superior knowledge. We'll leave the fact it was a second quicker in the 1/4 mile and 3 seconds quicker through the gears to 170 out of the rationale eh?

Jeez.

It's got c.20hp on the Busa, a few extra ram air ponies on top, a shit load of torque, wheelbase plus a state of the art traction control system that optimises the transfer of the power to the rear wheel. Let's not confuse the issue with such things though eh?

That video, shot at Bruntingthorpe, shows the same dashboard data for the 14R as the European launch video from the Nardo Ring. Which is 10,900rpm in 6th at the top speed limiter.

Frankly it's not good enough, the correct rpm would be a shade over 10,000 for the 183mph speed they recorded and 186mph would be 10,200rpm. The tacho on the bike is 9% optimistic. (or did they gear it 16/42 )

Bob, it works out just about perfectly, imo. On a new tire, at 10500 rpm (the tach is easily +400 off, as demonstrated on the dyno), the theoretical speed of the bike would be 192.1 mph on stock gearing. Take off 3% for wheel slippage (which we see all of the time over here), and you are looking at 186.24 mph....if the tire is not worn, or the bike leaning at all, etc..

Shane

Thanks Shane, I follow your reasoning of 400rpm off plus some slippage and hopefully I'll be able to see for myself very soon.

yadda yadda... everybody in the game knows that the busa can do low 10s with half a decent rider ,as i said if ricky gadson can do only 2-3 tenth quicker than some unkown rider on a busa, then i start to doubt if this kawasaki is any quicker at all.If the bike magazine rider is so incompetent then that test is worth a shit and i think that some magazines will have the busa beat the new kawasaki. anyway if they got the busa outaccelerating the zx14r in the top gear acceleration, then the same would apply in the lower gears also.and to be fair the busa wheelbase needs to be extended by an inch to make it the same.
First off it's 58.3 wheel base and the busa is 58 inch wheel base .. 3 tenths of an inch is going to help anyone .. If you really want the truth i put a tape on mine before i added my new swing arm and it was NOT 58.3 like Kawi put in the specs , it came out to 57 and 1/2 axle to axle ..

What i would like to ask you Gstring is what you run on your stock motored busa ?? I can tell you what i ran on my ZX14R my first time to the 1/4 mile ...With just a pipe , air shifted and 66 inch wheel base on pump gas 8.55 @ 160 ... NO other mods , NO trick VP fuel , Stock air filter in place , NO P/C or tune .. No trick wheel bearing , NO nothing ... I'm no Pro either .. Now think what my ZX14R would run with all the tricks HTP had on that 8.42 Busa plus a Pro Jocky like JT riding the bike on VP MR12 ..? I give HTP and JT a big high five for running that fast on a stock motored Busa .. And Brocks BMW going 8.47 are out of this world numbers .. It shows just how good these guys like Cecil at HTP and Brock are at tuning and setting up a bike .. They also picked one of the very best light weight riders around today to get it done ...

The way i see it Gstring this new ZX14R has given you a bad case of butt rash , maybe some Baby wipes would help ..

Gstring would never tell us what he runs ... His profile said he lives in FL ... He can meet me a BMP and we can have a little friendly race ..

Only way to settle this debate is stone cold stock out of the crate as you buy it from the dealer then to the track numbers IMHO.. This what if stuff don't settle nothing.. Cause nobody races apple to apples..

I agree ... If we could get two stone stockers and one pro rider to ride both bikes .. He would have to be someone that has nothing to gain from either bike winning ..
