Is this practical for 300hp.

Looking at a boating website, I see the Kawasaki jet ski 300lx has a 1498cc, 83X69.2mm in-line 4 supercharged 300HP motor, it sounds very close to the 84x65mm zx14r engine, how about taking a jet ski engine and fitting it in the zx14r for instant and reliable 300hp,

The jetski costs $15000. I suppose the real issue is, are the engine dimensions similar for it to fit. Just a thought from left field, Is this feasable, not that I am thinking of doing this, don't have the cash.

Bikeland did suggest in an article last year that Kawa might be looking at the supercharger as the technology for the future to remain competitive.

the motor was actually more closely related to a 12, just way more stroke. a lot of the head parts interchange, but no trans. wont work without major fab. (cases)

If you look at the engine it looks more like a car engine arrangement not a bike capable setup.

Oh I see, didn't see past the 300 hp, pretty dumb question, thanks for setting me straight, haha, and I thought I had made an amazing discovery.

what about rods and pistons will they interchange .. seems like bolting the supercharger to a zx12 is possible ..i'm sure the wiring harness and ecu would need to go be installed..i've never had the opportunity to look at a jet ski motor YET

the real issue is cooling. unless you have 70 degree water flowing in, it will overheat. you can get away with a lot more when you are using an entire lake for a cooling system

Almost-les, I think an efficient closed cooling system is sometimes better for an engine then a lake, lol, too much cooling means you are using thermostats to restrict water flow to try get the engine temperature high enough to not run cool, which is where most wear and tear happens.

But that sure is a lot of hp for 1499 cc, as 1bad says, if parts are interchangeable, like crank, cylinders, head etc, and using the supercharger, you could be pumping 300hp without worrying about a big explosion near your family jewels!

I was talkin to the sales guys atthe kawi dealership about the supercharged jet ski's a few years back, and he was telling me after so many hours the supercharger had to be rebuilt, and it was a low number of hours. I don't remember the number, but I thought wow... I don't know if he was blowing smoke up my butt, but if he was being truthful I wouldn't have one
