OUCH! ANOTHER DRAGSTRIP CASUALTY ......
Went to look at Dallas Raceway's (Crandall) schedule and found this:
AS OF 1/12/12 DALLAS RACEWAY IS NOW CLOSED FOR BUSINESS PER KENNY BARNES due to hard economic times and financial reasons. I would like to personally
thank each and every racer and fan that supported me and Dallas Raceway. I
will truly miss my racing family. Looking forward to seeing you all in the
future.
Sammy
Our only 1/4 mile track is gone (Ennis doesn't count for several reasons).

That's bad stuff. By the sounds of it, it wasn't properly ran. And in this economy, a business has to be on top of it's game to survive.

This is very true as well.
It would take a LONG time to pay for a track.

I know I have been in the stands many times to hear spectators complaining about not seeing times. Everyone wants to run no time, The track gets an extra dollar or two from the racers, But the spectators have nothing to see. They don't know the racers personally but could relate to fast times, Without times they are just seeing cars & bikes making passes. I have seen people pack up and leave frustrated not understanding why the clocks are off. People raced in the street back in the day to keep their times secret, If you got on the track their was no such thing as turning off the clocks, Now it has become the norm.

+1000
I'm a racer and a spectator, and it really sucks not to see the times.
Racers claim that they don't want people to know how FAST they are.
The reality is that most don't want people to know how SLOW they are.
Give Wheelie, Smokin, and others credit for posting their times and having the haters show up.
They could have just posted "Wow, this thing is really fast!"
