One more item installed, a steering damper. I like having a damper on the street, but espcially at the track. I hate landing small wheelies and getting a slapper, especially at swb. This solves that problem.
I decided to go with Brock's Ohlins setup. Basically I wanted something simple to install, high quality, and plenty of clearance for a front strap.

Installation took about 10 minutes. All of the parts are of high quality, and fit well. I used to have a Muzzy's setup on my Gen 1; it used all kinds of brackets and clamps/etc , and it came close to the forks/bars, even rubbing them a few times. This setup is much more simple, and the damper is not as wide, which gives better clearance.
My next major decisions are shifter and wheelbase. After that, the bike is pretty much done, and I can get down to really enjoying it!

In my case, I have to run a damper...ECTA requires it. Plus, I like the added stability and reduction in any kind of head shake when landing wheelies or going over bumps at high speeds. I see a few brackets out there for mounting that kind of stuff, and I think I have also seen them done very cleanly in the ram air covers if you decide to install one of these dampers.
Today I wanted to post a couple of more pics, to show how good the clearance is for a front end strap with the Brock's setup.
First, here is a picture of Racheal's GPR damper mount. You can see there is almost no room for a strap, and it has even caused some damage:

Now look at the Brock's mount:

Tons of clearance! I really like this design, very clean. Obviously designed with the drag racer in mind.

I assume that that damper wouldn't work with Heli risers?

Thanks, I really love this bike. It made a best of 199 SAE on my local stingy dyno, untuned, on pump gas. 198 a couple of weeks later while tuning (within the margin of change for different days). By comparison, Racheal's gen 1 with all of the tricks, including no air filter, short stacks, 47mm tb's, carbon wheel, non o-ring chain, MR12 fuel, CT Single, Brock's tune, etc...made around 187 SAE on the same dyno.
I need to spend more time with the tuning, and get some good fuel in it. We have been able to get about +3 hp at 11k rpm on top so far, it now carries the power and holds within 1 hp of peak at 11k rpm.
EDIT: Also, to put my local dyno in perspective, the bike made 181.66 hp SAE out of the box on it. About 10 hp lower than most of the other dyno #'s I have seen.

Shane, how many RPM did Don extend your rpm limiter. Did the ECU seem to have a noticeable seat of the pants power increase.

Mine is now +500 rpm, and it kicks in at 114xx rpm. Honestly, I couldn't feel a difference. On Brock's dyno, in back-to-back tests it gained a couple of hp....without tuning. So, the potential is there for more. Also, it allows you to run more gear, and that will definitely combine to give you more "seat of the pants" feel and acceleration.

Hi Shane,
I'm new here and look forward to owning a zx14r soon. I enjoy this thread very much. Great looking bike and I like the black too. Which fender eliminator brand is that you are you using? Does it have the led light fixed on it too? I like the CT look too however I may go with the CT single so I don't burn up the lady's foot when riding two up.
Thanks!

The fender eliminator is something I got for $15 off of Ebay, about 4 years ago. This one doesn't have a light in it, but there are a lot of them on Ebay that do, and very cheap.
