ninja 1000 (z1000sx)
I have the zx14 2006. A great bike that I have enjoyed very much after replacing the zx10r 2004.
Now I am wondering where to go next. The new zx14r is expensive and anyway I am considering moving to something lighter, but probably not a liter bike.
Can someone compare the two in terms of handling twisties and fun factor? How frustrating will the loss of power will be?

I rode the Ninja 1000 a few months ago and actually really liked it - I didnt think I would but it surpised me alot. It feels punchy and has a wonderful engine. The riding position is comfy and because its geared short its a great wheely machine... it would be an ideal around town machine with occasional blasts on country roads.
It did feel alot less powerful than the 2011 ZX-14 I had ridden just prior to the Ninja 1000 but then I've always said the ZX-14 is too powerful for street... hehe .
Seriously, the Ninja 1000 feels like it has very usable power that you can harness much more easily than the copious power and torque of a ZX-14. With the Ninja 1000 I felt you could actually use all of what the engine had to offer, where as with my new 2012 ZX-14R its a case off twist the throttle as much as I dare and hold on.
If your looking for a more sedate and comfy 1000cc class road bike I thnk the Ninja 1000 is a good option.
