Knoxville, TN. drag strip? Cumberland Gap?

My wifes parents retired to the Cumberland Gap area of TN. They moved right on the mountain where VA, TN and KY meet. As we were heading up to see them we passed the entrance to the Knoxville Dragstrip. Have any of you been there? Anything better closer? It is about 1.2 hours from where they live. We were up for the Holidays and I saw a ton of Harleys riding because the weather was very warm. Also must be some good ATV riding somewhere close because I saw trailors loaded down with them. When we come back up for spring would it be worth bringing my bike? Just a thought. here is a look down at Cumberland gap from on top of the mountain close to where the live.

Hey Big,

Knoxville Dragstrip is an 1/8th track that has seen better days. The track usually hooks pretty well but they are more car friendly.

Bristol Dragway is not all that far from them and is a very nice facility even hosting the NHRA races.
During the summer they have street night shoot-outs on Thursday evenings and race on the week-ends too. It's a quarter mile track.

There is several off road areas like Windrock and Royal Blue that are HUGE and attract people all over from the southeast.

I've been in all fifty states and some of the best street riding is in East Tennessee, North Georgia and Western North Carolina........all within a reasonable distance from where they live.

They live in a beautiful area for sure!!!

Dan

Yea they do. I will take my bike next time for sure. It will be in springtime before we go back. I am in still taken in by the mountains. It is very beautiful country. a lot of history in the area. The " Six Million Dollar Man" is from Middlesburro KY on the other side of the mountain. Being from the south it is kinda northern for me.

I've been to Windrock more times than I can count. It's a great place for 4-wheelers, but they made it more family oriented now and the trails aren't as challenging as they used to be.

Beach Bend is a 1/4 mile track and is very nice. I haven't raced there, but watched before.
