- 14R Brock's CT Meg Install and Dyno Results -

I am going to try to make this short and sweet. Racheal and I have worked a combined 142 hours in the past week, and today is our only day off until next Sunday...we're a little tired. I got up early in the morning and installed the CT Meg exhaust. Including fairing removal, taking my time, the job took under 1.5 hours. I left the fairings off for the dyno work.

The pipe is gorgeous:

And it's very light:

I took the time to weigh the parts coming off of the bike:

Both mufflers with peg hangers and hardware: 35 lbs
Stock header: 8.8 lbs

So, here is the weight savings that you can expect, as long as you don't mind losing your passenger pegs:

43.8 - 8.1 = 35.7 lbs

I am currently editing the pics for the dyno results, coming soon...remember, stingy dyno and no tuning. Fortunately, I had the bike on the same dyno last week, so comparison results will be valid...

I didn't know how much of a gain to expect, with no tuning...but I was pleasantly surprised.

Here are the results compared to last week. NO changes at all, other than bolting on the exhaust. Same tire pressure, same fuel (93 Shell pump gas):

Pay no attention to the 200 hp #, that is from the bump at the end of the pull. But about 9 hp gain peak, and 12 hp at 10600! Pretty awesome with no tuning, imo!!

I have some more dyno charts, and a small sound clip as well. And if you guys want any other data, just let me know...

We were seemingly seeing some reversion issues with the short pipe and the sniffer, at low-mid rpm? Or not? But on top it looks pretty good. Next time I will hook up my data logger, it doesn't seem to be bothered as much as the dyno sniffer.

Yes, that is where I'll hook my data logger up. It's in the little midpipe.

Here is the sound clip:

Nice and deep tone at idle/low rpm. I will get a sound clip at high rpm on the road as soon as I'm able. If the weather cooperates, that will be next week...

It was 55 degrees today, and the uncorrected #'s were awesome. I wish I had time to ride it!!!

Thanks man! Yes, it was great to see those numbers, even though I am dragging ass right about now!

Here are the uncorrected numbers:

I really, really...REALLY wanted to ride the bike today. Next week, with any luck I'll get to take it out and light the fuse!

WTFG, Shane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your are perhaps unique on this site in the systematic way you approach and document your experiments. Others do it, but not to your level.

Thanks, Karl. I think a few others here are right on par...and Wee and Smokin' certainly push the limits of the bike more than I do at the dragstrip.

Today I learned a few things on the dyno, and I am going to start keeping a logbook on this bike.

Great info as always Shane.

I know the bike must look GREAT with the pipe and the numbers are awesome, especially considering no tuning!

Keep up the good work, we'll all be watching.
