Shane is there any reason you wouldn't go a little longer on the wheelbase?

Well, I really liked my old bike at 64-65", and it was streetable. I plan to do a lot of street riding, mostly street riding with this bike.

I am still pondering it, so we will see what happens...

Brock's looks really cool in your bike.
Is there some special reason why rear pegs have been removed?

You are the lucky one! Racheal likes to race and I have to maintain her bikes, lol. She has been 228 mph in LSR (turbo Busa), and 9.04 in the 1/4 on her 14.

That is what I call "high maintenance".

Shane can you describe the difference in power between the ZX 14R and a Gen 1 ZX 14.................It'll probably be at least 4 months till I get one and i'm dying to know what 30 RWHP feels like is the front wheel impossible to keep on the ground in the first two gears ????

With the very cold asphalt temps, and limited riding opportunities, I haven't really pushed it in the the lower gears. Power-wise, it feels similar to Racheal's old Busa Turbo running on low boost. But it has better throttle response than the turbo, and it's much stronger at low rpm.

Now, you might think that sounds crazy...but her motor was low compression and about 200 hp on pump gas. So, it's a fairly valid comparison. In comparison to the Gen 1 14, it is just more "muscular". It just feels like the bigger motor that it is. The power difference is a quantum leap...I imagine much like the Busa/12R were above the ZX-11 or Blackbird. I have had a 12R, Gen 1 14, Gen 2 Busa, etc...nothing "out of the box" compares to this bike.

Where I really feel the big difference is 4th gear; it just rips through it. I need more seat time, and I really need to get it on the track. The bike has 135 miles on it now, and about 15 of those are on the dyno. I'm anxious to get to know the bike better.

"much stronger at low rpm," "more muscular," "just feels like the bigger motor it is..." All the stuff I wanted to hear as a street rider. I can't/shouldn't use that top-end (too) much on the road, but I sure do love torque and power. Nice info w/some key phrases for us non-dragsters.

Thanks much.

Great feedback...

Shane:

I also am living through you, Wheelie, Smokin, Seno, Lucky14 and the rest of the 1st wave 14R owners until I get mine in the spring. Your thoughtful and detailed feedback in everything you post is appreciated. Just hoping my remote country roads stay clear of critters a few months from now, lol.

I transferred to pax river in November. I live all of about 200 yds from dakota9498 in the same neighborhood. Sucks that I don't have a bike anymore.

This bike is a game-changer. If it were a guitar amp, it would go to "11"....

Man that sounds great and looks perfect. Kinda wish I would have ordered the CT Meg now,,,,, I got the standard CT single but I'm sure I'll be very happy with it.

One question about the air fuel. Is that a safe air fuel at speed? Seems like it would be pretty lean with ram air.

I want to install the CT as soon as my bike gets here but maybe the safe bet is to wait for a tunning option from dynojet, etc.

I haven't logged it at speed yet. On Racheal's Gen 1 bike we didn't see much of a change in a/f at all, through 188 mph, at the track. I will know more about the 14R soon, hopefully.

The CT single is a great exhaust, I am sure you will love it. We have one on Racheal's bike.

Shane, what was the hp on the bike once you got it tuned? Yes, I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered...^&&*^

Thanks, sorry if I missed it earlier, but I didn't see any numbers after you had it tuned.

This is one of the best pulls, from Brock's dyno, with race fuel:

I never baselined my bike on his dyno, but I believe their test bike made around 195 std, stock?

Thank you, I was curious of what kind of hp numbers you are running on the streets with non-race fuel.

All of the dyno work lately has been with MR12. You are looking at 20+ hp more than a Gen 1 14, either way.
