GTech Pro SS ?? Anyone ever use one of these?
Well the nearest track to me is like almost 2 hours away, besides the fact up north today the high temp was like 36. I would love the luxury of a local track but since that is not an option I was looking at the G-Tech Pro SS http://www.gtechpro.com/ss.html . You Florida & California guys are lucky as hell to ride all year round. Does anyone have any experience with these? Looks small enough to fit somewhere on the bike, for $200 it is definitely affordable... BUT will it work? POS or not? If anyone has any feedback I would appreciate it, Thanks all!

Wheelies are fun, BUT I want to get more consistent and have a ballpark idea what I am running.... Also, it would be nice to see if I am improving, or acting like one of Jerry's Kids. Nearest track from me is literally, 1:45 away(englishtown), Atco is 3 hours away (Rickey G's course is given there)...

if it's 36 degrees you will be using the t/c on the street trying to leave hard from a dead stop, even on a prepped track 36 degrees aint gonna hook,

Wheelie, you are definitely a pessimist.... My point is on days like tomorrow it's supposed to go up to 48... I could get some runs in...

I did 300 miles in 43 degree weather a few weeks ago.... 48 will feel like summer!

Unfortunately, we can't officially support the GTech for motorcycle applications. Its design was not indented for two wheel operation.
We have had some users enjoy some limited success (0-60 and 1/4 mile times), but it is purely a case by case basis.
Any front wheel lift will severely skew your data.
Any lean side to side will severely skew you data.
High vibration bikes will severely skew you data.
Sorry to rain on the parade, we'd love to sell you one.

Seno, my $.02 is practicing launching on a non prepped surface isn't goin to help you much at the track, especially a bike with wheelbase. You can launch much harder at the track due to traction. That's not even discussing safety.

Agree 100% with launching, but the mechanics are generally the same. As far as Safety goes: I do have a location isolated from traffic and the general public. I am not one of those assholes who gives people on bikes a bad name, sure I do speed but I have a beautiful wife and children to make sure I get home to.

Looks like you found your answer but I wanted to chime in since I have actual experience with the GTech Pro.
A Friend of mine gave me his GTech Pro... he has money to burn and isn't a serious racer and his fascination with the Gtech had worn off. I went to work setting it up on my 14. First I tried the suction cup mounts to the wind screen.. fail! Too much vibration.. was hard to find a spot it would stay. Next I got a techmount stem mount. bought a second cradle from Gtech to screw it down. Even drilled new holes and tapped them on the techmount plate. Got it all wired in. Thing works great as long as you are launching no harder than a 2.2 sec 60 ft. Anything harder and the device just scrambles its brains and gives you an error saying something was interrupted or some such. So, in my experience, it's impossible to get it to work on an MC.
That said, every time I tried it in a car or even in a truck, it works flawless. Granted these are considerably slower vehicles.
I should also mention that the friend that gave it to me, switched to some app he can run on his iPhone as well. He says it works great. Based on what I know about how accurate the GTech can be in a car and how hard it is to get it work on a MC, I am skeptical that a phone app will deliver very accurate numbers. Please let us know how that works.

The ones for the phones work well in slower vehicles, not so much on a bike. I couldn't ever get it to keep up. I have had a G-Tech Pro and a buddy had an older G-Tech. Both were glitchy and definitely not worth the money. And I agree with eklipse, for the most part you will never be able to launch on the street like you do on the strip so it is kind of pointless to try. With the rare exception of a surface that has a lot of street races happening with rubber on the road. just my two cents.

Get a P-BOX. They are bad ass. Expensive but worth it. I've done pulls with mine at the track and it's within hundredths every time and the MPH is always within 1+- but it does ALOT of different things and I use it in the cars a lot as well.
