- My 14R Dyno Results -
I finally got the bike on the dyno today. I knew that my "numbers" would be lower than most, because this dyno has proven to be very stingy....-10 hp or so compared to most 250i's I have seen. Still, the dyno operator is great to work with, and I was more interested in relative #'s. Since I have had Racheal's 14, and my own 2011 Busa on this dyno, those would serve as a good baseline...
First, I rode the bike to the dyno in 35 degree temps. Suffice it to say, I was freezing my b@llz off by the time I got there, lol. I used to my cell phone to bring up Wheelie's thread about the coil wire colors, and then we removed the toolkit to find a lead to clip on to.
Getting ready for the big event....
Results soon to come...I have to go through and make some pics off of Winpep7....

First up was a baseline pull with FACTORY BREAK-IN OIL. Keeping in mind the stingy dyno, this is what we got...
I knew that relatively speaking, on this dyno, this was a strong pull....but I wanted to change the oil right away. Both Lee and Brock had mentioned that the stock oil was going to hold the bike down. I didn't know just how much, but I was about to find out...

Next I drained the factory oil and I inspected it. Very few shavings were present. However, it was just ugly...it sort of reminded me of this:
It wasn't dirty, it wasn't contaminated....but there was something murky and evil about it....

Next, I added the Alisyn <<0 WT oil and Petron additive that Brock suggested (and we saw +3 hp on Racheal's bike).
Here is where we stare at the results...
And here are the results...with no other changes...
Lee and Brock were right...new bike in the making...
Next up, comparisons to some other documented bikes on this dyno...

That's insane, would have never expected 8 horsepower, and 6 ft-pnds of torque.

Over 8 hp from just oil and additive? was that your best run with stock oil and your first run with zero weight?

2nd run with zero wt (1st pull was within .8 hp). Stock oil pull was actually 2nd pull as well, but dyno didn't register on 1st pull. Engine temps comparable. Bike was driven 10 miles on the dyno with the zero wt.

The power curve is exactly the same, just more power all the way thru. The oil works. I remember my tuner telling me about a Gixx 1k that picked up 5hp on his dyno 20 mn later after the oil change-

Shane,
We saw a 7 horsepower gain through the middle on Christine, our BMW. I always said she had a mixture of sawdust and molasses from the factory... I'm not sure what you would call what your bike had - maybe slurry?!

Can you say how many passes a guy can run this oil for roughly. I get 300 plus passes from a clutch so I don't fill my oil with clutch crap quick.

Now, many of you probably know that Brock tuned Racheal's '06 14.. What you may not know is that it is the strongest stock motored 14 he has had on his dyno, bar none.

Brock's CT Exhaust
Short Velocity Stacks
47mm throttle bodies
No Air Filter
Well-lubed Non o-ring Chain
BST wheel with ceramic bearings
LSR gearing
MR12 Fuel
Guhl Motors Extended Revs ECU
<<0 wt and Petron additive
So, how does this bike compare to the stock 14R on pump gas, same oil, same dyno???

I have used OEM, Wix, and K&N with good results. I change filters and oil a lot when racing.

It would scare you... I have gone over 100 passes on my Diary 14 on <<0 in between changes, and not changed my oil filter for a whole season. I'm busy as hell all the time+ I'm lazy about that stuff ... It's no excuse- but it's reality. BTW, I don't recommend this behavior, but accelerated change intervals are a non-issue as far as I'm concerned. I can't even tell you how much to change it. Let you conscience be your guide, as much as any other oil - but no more.

FYI: we sell piles of this stuff, hundreds (maybe thousands?) of quarts per year. If guys had problems... EVERYONE would know these days.
