ZERO TO HERO CHALLENGE BY KAWASAKI
Kawasaki to Give Consumers a Chance to Race Rickey Gadson
Friday, December 09, 2011

Four consumers will be given a chance to race nine-time AMA Drag Bike Champion Rickey Gadson to win a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja® ZX™-14R, the world’s quickest production sportbike. Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. is asking potential contestants to submit an essay to Kawasaki ZX14R explaining why they should race Gadson in the “Zero to Hero” promotion, beginning Jan. 1, 2012.
Finalists will travel to Rickey Gadson’s Drag Racing School where they will receive two days of instruction from the nine-time champion, while also qualifying for their own NHRA Bracket license. Once qualified, the four will race against each other in elimination-style rounds and the quickest contestant will have a chance to race Gadson for a brand-new 2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R sportbike.
“The ZX-14R is the quickest production sportbike available today and the Zero to Hero promotion allows us to display that power on the race track,” said Kawasaki Marketing Communications Director Chris Brull. “Rickey is one of the fastest drag racers around and his school has helped many riders become top-level racers. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the new ZX-14R, than to give our riders a chance to race against Rickey.”
Eight semi-finalists will be chosen after essay submissions close on Feb. 14. The public will be introduced to the semi-finalists on Kawasaki ZX14R, from Mar. 14 through Apr. 14, where they can vote for their favorite. Shortly after Apr. 14, the field will be reduced to four finalists. In May, those finalists will travel to Las Vegas, where one of them will go from “Zero to Hero!”
No purchase necessary to enter or win, nor will making a purchase increase your chances of winning. Contest entry submission begins on Jan. 1, 2012 and ends on Feb. 14, 2012. Must be a legal resident of the U.S. or the District of Columbia, of the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence, at least 18 years of age or older, and have a valid state-issued driver’s license with a valid motorcycle endorsement as of the date of entry. For additional eligibility requirements see full official rules at Kawasaki ZX14R. Sponsor: Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. Void in Puerto Rico, all U.S. territories and possessions, and where prohibited by law.[/QUOTE]

"have little or no NHRA experience, does not hold, nor previously held, an NHRA license"
This was copied from the official rules, so that pretty much rules the majority of us out I guess.

Well some of us didn't have a world class IHRA track like MIR in our back yard, so we had to get an NHRA license so I didn't get kicked out every time I ran faster than a 6.40.

IHRA use to take a NHRA license at their tracks but the NHRA didn't take an IHRA license at their tracks ..and to get an NHRA license you had to let a doctor molest you with a physical.
you can't win you don't bracket race

from what i read rules and screening are a crock .. if you gonna have a race then have a race .. set a time and place and line them up and get after it .. winner take all
i think my chances of winning the publishers clearing house sweepstakes are better than this registration and screening essay crap..

I signed up last night. I got my essay written and I'm hoping to show Rickey that someone with road racing (WERA and CCS) and local novice AMA motocross racing experience can diligently learn, paying attention to the details taught by Rickey, and possibly, if anyone can, possibly have a chance at beating Rickey. A long shot? Sure, but I'm game!
I've been riding a motorcycle since I was 6 years old. I currently road race an R6 in the Expert class and I ride a 2009 ZX14 and a 2005 ZRX1200R on the street. Both are stock wheelbase. I've never ridden a bike with an extended swingarm. I'm 41 now, not too old and not too young, so I am not a newbie to riding and I have done well with other types of racing, but I've only ever been on a drag race racetrack one evening back in 1997 or 1998.
I just may be the one that Rickey is looking for......I have enough experience with riding and racing and have even won two regional novice WERA championships in my first year of road racing, yet I have only ever raced at a local drag race racetrack one evening just east of Pittsburgh, PA. I'm throwing out the challenge to Rickey. He is the best, but no one is perfect.
