Kawpower,

Is the bike you a 1441 street bike, or a built track bike? I understand you mentioned a 215 rwhp .... this bike will achieve the same numbers wtih bolt ons and good gas.

On avg they will produce 195 broken in; add a pipe another 7, add 47mm TB another 7 to 8,
add the SS porting/milling, add another 10 to 12, add Mr12/tuning... now you have a 228 rwhp bike..... the ingredants are clear and the jury is no longer out..... not to mention I will have a set of BSTs.

Hey French Guy, turn off the google translator!
Your English is way better than that nonsense.
Tell us what it REALLY says!

Anyway. I wouldn't worry about it the French 2012 will make exactly the same HP as the Gen 1 and the Hayabusa, as you know.

JustToyz , my bike is 1417 cc pumpgas only, street and strip bike, and add in the cost of the 012 and the mods u mention, i would say u are very close to 20.000 thats a lot of dough for 210+hp.

How much does it cost for a new 2011, and then building the 1417 motor, and adding the accessories? That's a more fair comparison when you start talking about costs.

Older/used bikes with mods can always be had cheaper than the newest model.

200$ pr month payment and move my bolt- ons over for free to the 14R and I have a 210+hp bike, and its new- not played out.

Any questions???? This is where logic comes in people.

Everyone has different circumstances so you can't just "logically" say getting a 14R is hands down a better choice than modding a Gen 1. Bolt-ons may move over, but I've got a pretty cool custom paint job that will not. And my ''06 only has around 6k miles and has been very well maintained (I'd know, I bought it new) so although a ways from being new now, I'd also say it is far from played out. And although a $200/ mo pymt doesn't seem like a lot, how many months are we looking at? Payments add up, especially with interest. But despite all of this, I am definitely tempted to get a brand new bike that makes 200+ hp with just the simplest of bolt ons. Bottom line: you can justify going either direction once you put your mind to it. And personally, I'm on the fence right now. . . And actually happy to be there for now - it saves me a bunch of $ in either direction! :-)

Crazx that's post is right on, every situation is different, mine just worked out that turbo busa threw a rod at the last race, my twelve I had since new in 2000, it just worked out that kawi came out with new 14, otherwise I would have been buying a first gen and most likely used to save some money. But since the bike is different and I had down payment money it worked just got lucky with timing. I like the first gens also, hopefully the people with expierance will help me with my 14 because I really haven't tore inito these a whole lot.

This is where I disagree, so for a one time payment of about 600 I can do my head on my 2010 and run a simple 20 shot of nos and be right beside a new one. and you will be making that 200.00 dollar a month payment for how long? No don't get me wrong what kawaski just pulled off with this new bike is impressive. but unless you need to be on the band wagon of having the latest 14 you can go just as fast a hell of alot cheaper. not every used 14 is played out as in your terms.

What it's about is getting a brand new Kawasaki flagship ZX-14R. THE most powerful factory streetbike out. We all know you can go faster cheaper but you want have the NEW that comes along with it. Plus most guys are only going to do bolt on's anyway. and they will have over 200 RWHP. that is going to be a very fast bike. Is it worth it? that's up to the you. I can't wait to see one decked out and at the track.

Personal prerference perhaps, but not logical and definitely not apples to apples.

With a pipe, tune, and getting the head done and a 20 shot, you can keep up with a bone stock 14R with stock quiet exhaust???

What happens when the 14R adds the same mods???

I understand when people choose not to buy the latest, or are unable to, or don't need another 30 HP for their riding style, but you have to admit that the 14R has raised the bar substantially.

The new 14 is bad ass but if you really think with stock exhaust it's going to out perform a gen 1 with a head and exhaust and a tune and a 20 shot your crazy. it's simple math the new 14 is 30 hp stronger so minus a 20 shot you have 10 more hp so we know that a gen one sees at least 10 hp from exhaust and that's on the low side so now there even, and we haven't added the head in yet. And I'm talking equal riders as well.

It's been since 2000 since I bought a new bike, always got and built used machines since- why? Becuase they were so close in power, so why buy a new one, I can run in the 8's on a 6000$ 5 year old bike. So I bought one and did... Different story now, the new 14 is simply in a different class then any other.

Right now, my motor is pulled appart and I am getting close to making a decision on what to do and when. For those who want to use nitrous and stay with the old bike just to match the new one thats fine. My goal isn't to match it. You will never build a gen 1 zx14 to make as much power and be as reliable as the new 14R's new motor. Tear downs and rebuilds? Thousands of dollars on BB and stroker motors? To me-Not smart.

The sale price I was given financed by my credit union put me at 236$ per month. I still have my gen 1 model, which I can sell any time if I want and surely will. I just paid off my JK which free's up 400$ per month. So yeah, its a no brainer for me.

A brand new bike with a factory blue printed reliable stroker motor.

For me, it's the cheaper option, and it's time for a new bike.

Your words, not mine: "I can do my head on my 2010 and run a simple 20 shot of nos and be right beside a new one."

What was the subject of this thread anyway? I forgot. Oh, yeah, the 14R makes 30 more HP than the 14, stock to stock.

I can understand sticking with an older platform, whether bike or car, when you have a large investment, both monetarily and emotionally, but the choice was easy for me, 'cause I was bikeless and buying the 14R just seemed like the thing to do.

I'll keep my 06' and try to keep up with the new 14r at the track. I've seen alot of guys who were real consistant running their number at the track, then change their bike or buy a new one and have a hard time getting back to being consistantly close.
