I didn't even know there was a shift light, (never had a fourteen before) using a TPS window switch to activate the progressive box , pass button for the second stage and went with the dynotune electronic pressure gauge instead of regular way have had had too many liquid filled gauges leak out (me personally). The hardest part was getting three solenoids in the battery box and the pressure sensor for the gauge in the battery box, but with patience it can be done. I run index calsses so I use the progressive with a moderate shot so I can dial in indexs and the second stage is a small stage for when Tom does stupid things.

What are you interested in knowing about prices if people are interested I can come up with a list of things that went into this setup just let me know I don't mind taking pictures and posting a list

The gauge is from dynotune it's about 150.00 for everything and you can get the display in three colors red, green and black.

In the midwest riding is over so it's either look at it on the lift and go this sucks or work on setting it up and go this sucks, can't wait til spring!

thanks for the comments fellas

Has anybody tapped into the wiring for launch light and shift light and added a Brighter LED instead of using the light in the dash?

At a local auto parts I think Advanced Auto than just cut the wires after the plug to the license plate light for switched power can still unplug the fuse box by disconnecting factory plug and can work on stuff if there is any problems

I think I would still use an aftermarket one, like the Raptor Dual Mode Shift/Launch Light. It only takes four wires to wire it up (power, ground, coil wire, and speed sensor). Works great, fairly cheap at $130, self contained, and you can't miss it.

The old shift light was an LED, but it is a solder type (flat design) and I am sure the new one is similar. You could try to find the wire that leads to it and either tap into it or cut it and wire in a new LED or cluster of LEDs with the correct resistance that was brighter. I haven't looked into it though, but I am sure it could be done if you are somewhat capable with wiring and/or soldering. Let us know if you go that route, may be a little easier once they get service manual available with some wiring diagrams.

Thats the one thing I am waiting on talked to my service manager, I know typically with new models Kawasaki sends out new service manuals as soon as they are available, we haven't gotten one yet, cause what I am thinking about doing is using a relay an the signal that would turn on OEM light would be activating input on the relay, so that way wouldn't overload anything circuit wise. Than I was going to put an LED strip on the rim of the shield that would work for launching and shifting. Will post up if it seems viable because relays and LED strips are cheap. If I can help anybody with my expierimenting I'll be more than glad to share materials, cost and install later Tom

Sounds good, thanks. Oh, and with an LED or even a cluster of LEDs you shouldn't have to worry about overloading anything, they don't use a lot of power.

Well Tom, I just have the most basic idea about NOS. So jus a general idea of what it cost to turn the bike from stock to NOS boosted would do me fine. I'm sure there are cheaper setups than yours but I sure like what I see there. Just curious what it would cost if I got serious about this. What was it for the whole system (gauge controllers nitrous sprayer.......whatever else is in the setup), an extra $2000, $800??

Rook, here it is let start with basics,
solenoids they are anywhere from 70.00 (nitrous direct) to 100.00 plus (NOS) these are lower HP solenoids (200) or so the limits depend on the orifice size and how much they will flow when open usually with bikes the lower HP ones are fine.
With fuel injected bikes keep it simple no need to go with a wet kit unless you plan going big
then relays (30 amp) I personally use a relay per solenoid (noids) typically use around 7 to 8 amps I rather be safe than sorry realays are about 6 to 7 seven dollars
A fuse box for more insurance
You can activate you system mechanically with switch hooked up that gets turned on by a part of your throttle or electonically with a wide open throttle switch (150, or so) controlled by TPS, RPM or GEAR position there alot of different ways and it depends what you are trying to do with system
Progessive controllers these will really depend on what you are trying to do. If you running out the back door and just want to come out smooth than a simple 2 button progressive will work fine 1 for starting percentage and 2 build time to 100% of your HP jet, than is four button and five button which give a ton of adjustability, 1 delay when spray is activated based on time, 2 starting percentage typically 20%, 3 finishing percentage you don't have to go to 100% stop 80% or whatever you want, 4 build time to finishing percentage and 5 control a second stage based on time from box first gets activated
Prices vary on progressive controllers 2 buttons around 250.00 four and five buttonsaround 500.00 now if you keep your eyes open for used controllers typically half of new
A purge system is typically a little over a 100.00 bucks for a kit.
Misc. switches and buttons 10.00 to 15.00 bucks
Solder connections when ever possible and try to use fine stranded wire they are more flexible.
Gauges for bottle pressure non liquid filled, glycerin filled and eletronic they vary from 40.00 to around 150.00
Some companies make a combo wide open throttle switch /progressive controller some will even do two stages be careful some only work through windows, me personally I don't like them if I need to make a change in the lanes I don't want to have to pull a laptop out.
As far as progressive controllers go the difference between the controllers is dependant on how adjustability you need I run index classes I trie to setup my bike to run the number on running out the back door and it changes with weather so I like alot of adjustment, some people would be fine with a two button alot of it depends on you.
Then you could have one stage and have it work on a button, flash to pass button, starter button, horn button, high beam button or add a button that you can reach with a finger.
Sorry if I rattled on hopefully that was helpful

OH- extremely. Thank you very much Tom. I would have a hundred more questions but if I really decide to boost, then I will PM ya or even start a thread. Sounds like a really cool NOS like what you have can be had for $700-$1100. That sounds very encouraging. Of course I need that like a hole in the head but the whole idea of nitrous has been a source of fascination since long before I even owned the 14.

BTW, I owned a Vulcan Classic about 10 years ago. Nice. Vulcan Drifter was my father's last (real) bike and I loved that.
