2012 ZX14R Smeg install .... :)

Today i installed the Smeg i got from Bently .. Bently forgot to send the rear muffler bracket so i had to make one from some scrap i had laying around .. Bad bad Bently ...

Anyway you will be glad to know the Brocks Smeg fits just fine ... The head pipe looks to be the same size at the head as the stock pipes ...There was talk about the number 4 pipe hitting the lower part of the fan bracket ... Well it does but just just touches it .. I used one single washer on the lower Rad bracket and it clears with pleanty of room .. I think i could have skipped the washer all together and it would have been fine .. I sure not all pipes and all bikes are the same so you may have to shim it a little .. Don't worry it causes no problems ...

Now lets talk about removing the body work .. And i mean work as in a lot of work ..Your first time removing the body work is going to have you talking like a two bit whore .. As if taking it off was not bad just remember you have to put it back on .. Piles of push pins and bolts litter my shop .. And to make it worst there are to different sized push pins and untill you really look at them they all seem to be the same size .. Trust me they are NOT ..

After the body work is off installing the pipe is a snap ..

The pipe sounds great but on this motor it is much much louder than the Gen 1 .. I can't tell about the power yet because i only took it for a short ride .. Cops were everywhere and it is SO loud now they would hear me coming miles away .. Good news is i hear no 3000 RPM pop on decell like the old bike .. So if you have a smeg off your old bike have no fear it will work just fine .. Hope Dyno Jet gets busy so Brock can start building us some killer maps ... Picture to follow later ....

No i did not .. Teddy and I sold our dyno a while back .. I don't know anyone around here that has a dyno .. Butt dyno feels like 180 stock , maybe a bit more .. It sure didn't feel like Roys 1530 with 198 HP ... Maybe now it has 190+ since i have installed the pipe ...

Looks good Smokin, did you have to push the bottom of the radiator forward for the pipe install?

Not really ... It was just lightly touching so i added one washer to be on the safe side .. But i did push the rad out on the bottom to install the pipe , it made it much easier to remove and install the head pipes .. I could have done it without pushing it out but i had removed the lower bracket because i was thinking i would need to add some spacers ..

that's what I meant for removal and install, CT I see a complete removal of the radiator, not sure about the Whizbang.

Smokin, I will look and see if I have the stock strap. I guess I forgot about that as it was mounted right to my exhaust hanger with no strap!

I didn't remove the rad when i installed my CT on my 09 .. May not work like that on the new zx14r .. I know the CT is bigger but you may still be able to snake it in there without removing the rad .. The wizbang i have no clue since i have never seen one .. ...

I can't imagine having to remove the radiator. The CT doesn't stick forward as much as an M14, and even if it did, you could remove the front wheel to swing the radiator forward, right?

Maybe I need to get one of these bikes, to verify pipe fitment?
