But at least Shitzuki had a moto gp entry...and the old GSXR 1000 is still tearing it up in many venues and ...........  than the aftermarket you can only dream Kawi had the support as good as Shitzuki has!

some of you guys need to realize if suzuki folds up other bike prices will go even higher and the other companys won't have to update as much either, even if you don't like suzuki it would help everyone if they can make it.

I'm a bike whore and I jump on any bike even though I like being the under dog thats why I choose Kawis!! The only reason I talk shit about the slowzukis is because most of their owners are Squids but other than that suzuki bikes are great just like the other brands.

Suzuki did not have a factory team this year. They only stayed in this year because DORMA paid the tab for the team. They would of pulled out last year if not for that.

Why be an expensive...non factor?
Kawasaki pulled out of MotoGP last year for pretty much the same reason. Suzuki realized that they aren't going to be a factor versus Honda and Yamaha in the near future (comeback in 2014?) so why sink the money in a effort where they would be an also-ran? Suzuki's bike was alot better at the end of the year, but not going to challenge for wins any time soon.
Also the two current super teams (Honda/Yamaha) have most of the best rider talent (Stoner, Lorenzo, Spies, etc) under contract so that makes it even tougher to develop an elite level bike in MotoGP for the struggling teams. Even with a super talented rider (Rossi at Ducati), it takes serious $ and time to develop the bike to take advantage of an elite level rider's talents and field an podium worthy entry.
They will be back as will Kawasaki at some point when the economy (sales) are better.

Yeah pretty disappointed to see them pull out, especially after some pretty good showings toward the end of the season.
Though they've been pretty active in most other series. I suspect they just don't see a reasonable ROI with MotoGP, which is obviously WAY more expensive than any of the other series.
As to the "why bother when you're just gonna be an also ran"... one reason is R&D. That's where you come up with and test some of the cutting edge, though all the restrictions FIM keeps adding of course stifles that a bit. What is a bit odd to me, is why Suzuki didn't stay in under CRT rules? That should take their cost down a bunch.

I rather doubt any of those will drop out, although a season can change alot. All three manufacturers have a number of other teams using their bikes too, so there's some income. And Ducati didn't do THAT bad. Certainly a far cry from last season's results, but they're still #3 in a pretty decent way.

Pre-test restrictions, we'd be totally agreed on the R&D point. Totally a guess, but Suzuki being the smallest of the Japanese OEM's and having significant issues with their car business, probably just doesn't have the spare cash even for CRT rules. Skipping a production model year suggests exactly that. Locally we are down to 1 dealer in my area from probably four 2 years ago. I'm a Kawasaki guy...period. but the loss of a viable competitor is bad for the sport under any circumstances.

I've rode Honda's, Yamaha's and Suzuki's. My least favorite is probably the Honda's. Suzuki and Yamaha are pretty much tied, but I own a Kawasaki because of comfort and power.

Both of you are spot on. If 2013 is the year they go to production based motogp maybe everyone will get back in it. The expense right now for a non-winning machine makes it ludicrous to stay involved. I dont blame them one bit.
