2012 Zx-14 Dyno runs

Thursday was a great day. We had the opportunity to put the new 2012 Zx-14 on the Dyno and do some testing of the oil that we use for Lucas.

Stock out of the crate, the bike gave a great performance! To set the scene, we are at 212ft of Alt, density was 2019, baro 29.82, and the humidity was at 41%, 75 degrees out. Since the ZX-14 we tested had about 52 miles on it, when we made the first pull, we decided to take it out and put a few highway miles on it, and brought it back with about 120. We had the bike filled with 91 octane pump gas since most street riders would use this.

The 1st pull was 182 hp, at 108 ft lbs of torque. The next 3 were at 187, which was really impressive. Then we did an all gear pull. The bike went to 190hp with 111 ft lbs of torque. This was done on a dynojet model 200 dyno. Our tuner did a great job setting it up and we know that dynos are different and get different readings. Needless to say, we can't wait to really get a hold of one of these and do what we do!! This motorcycle is Awesome!!

I will post a few pics at my Facebook site http://www.facebook.com/gmerchant

Well if it's like my dynojet 200 dyno a stock gen 1 zx14 makes 162 give or take a few .. A modded gen 1 makes 174 give or take a few HP ... So 187 hp is a big jump for sure ..That is a 25 HP gain from a Gen 1 zx14 ... and 13 HP over a Modded gen 1 zx14 ..

Yup awesome! Now add 12 to 15 hp for a pipe and tune .. 200+ hp to the tire !!

Roys 1530 motor made 197 on my dyno and let me tell you that bike was a hand full to ride .. It would trap 163 MPH every pass and that was with NO body work ( Necked ) ..

And you were right on it on ur prediction..
I don't think the extra weight should be much factor... It looks like mostly the new exhaust.

It made 190 sae doing all gear pulls, which are usually the same at peak at a single gear pull. My guess is the motor was loosening up, that motor may end up with 195 SAE broke in, thats friggin big power.

Kaw claims their new exhaust flows better. Do you think maybe there won't be as much of a gain with a full system.

The two cans and catalyzer was probably so restrictive that with a bigger motor, Kaw probably had no choice but to add a better head pipe. So it's probably a wash imo.

That is incredible stock! My understanding about full exhaust system would not be necessary according to KHI spokesman. I do look forward to someone dismantling one and find any secrets to the new beast.

Thanks for the sharing this kind of good news - great numbers indeed.
Would be nice to see dyno chart and possible other pics from the run here as not able to see those at your FB site.
Any chance to add here...

Not surprised at all...thanks again RG & KHI

Count me among the faithful who expected KHI to come through big-time. When its all said and done I suspect the 14R will reclaim the perch Kawasaki is accustomed to, built on a ton of fast H1's, KZ's, GPZ's and Ninja's going back to the early 70's.

Looks like Smokin and the rest of the racers among us are going break into the...8's without pipes. So again, why would Ricky G risk his own hard earned rep hyping something that was BS? Looking forward to getting mine in a few months that much more.
