bike will not stay on
I have a 08 zx10r. this morning turned the bike on and warmed it for 3-5 mins and plugged by electric gloves. Within few feet of ridding bike shut down. and after several attempts it fired back up and when ridding on highway it shut back down again but able to restart with clutch.
I put a new air (kn ) filter few months ago and on first day of putting the filter it shut down briefly but since than has had no issues.
Mods: KN air filter. speedohealer
Would like to know whats the problem - air filter, battery or speedohealer.

Try unplugging the speedohealer .. A few people have had problem with them .. If that doesn't do the trick lift up the tank and see if you missed anything while installing the air filter .. On the 08 there are a bunch of grounds under the seat on the frame , check those to see if any are lose ..

I had a similar issue with HIDs (high beam), when I turned it on the bike would intermittently shut off or lurch. It turned out to be a bad ground. Check your glove wiring for a short or maybe a bad ground.

Put the stock air filter back in it. I had the same problem before
and all we did was change the filter.

No it was an 06 636. I had put the kn on it and it wouldn't run when it was cold outside. After I added a pipe and pc it was good with the k&n.

I have never had a problem personally, but I have seen several problems pop up from too much oil on the K&N style filters. Which is one of the reasons Brock doesn't recommend them because of the inconsistency it is hard to account for afr. Anyway, it does sort of sound like an air filter oil problem, it would be away worse when it is cold due to the oil gumming up, of course it is hard to diagnose things over the internet..

its fixed. it was the ECU FUSE slowly burning away for months. Today after work bike would not start at all and changed the fuse - it started right up. what's the underlying cause?
