Not that I know anything about buying a new Kawasaki :-/
But if dealers are taking deposits from customers, then Kaw would have to be pretty stupid to not show the bikes numbers, since you are already taking money. Pre-production? -the bike in the vid is no longer "stock" since its stretched with a brock's exhuast, etc.
Who the hell would buy the bullshit excuse of not being "allowed" to caugh up the bike's performance results- hell, the bike Rickey posted vids up with ET's and mph was as "production" as the bike can be- far from the bolt-on modded machine in the vid.
Sounds like to me it's not Kawasaki holding you guys back-

We will be digging into the hart of this engine ASAP. First on the list is a supersport head and our 47mm throttle bodies. Then we will move on from there.
I cant wait to get my hands on a head.
oh..i know rickey had nothing to do with it..it is just a little fishy that kawasaki made all these plans ahead to test the bike and all they could find was that track at that time of the day and all other tracks were booked!! come on.. you buy into that!!
believe me if i want to show off my new product i will make sure that i test it in best condition to get the best result.
i guess we just have to sit tight and wait......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Does anyone really believe this bike will not be a big performance step forward from the current model, once adorned with the basic mods??
If so, I'd love to hear your reasoning....

Well, then what would you do with those numbers? I think we all know the performance is going to be strong, but the most important numbers will come from actual production bikes....and they are just around the corner.
The numbers from a preproduction bike, likely with no power commander and no proper setup/fuel/tune, while sporting a 50 lb billet swingarm and 240 tire...what the hell do they mean???
Anyway, that is just my .02.

Like i said before " No way this bike makes less than 20 hp more than the old ZX14 "
My hope is it makes 25 HP more than the old ZX14 ..When the HP numbers and ETs start popping up we will all know if it hits the mark ..
I myself just can't see that Roaring Toys bike running all that fast .. Big tire , swing arm that weights 50 pounds , not slammed , no air shifter, 180+ rider , stock gears and the list goes on and on .. It is not a drag bike , it's a bling bling bike.. Nice looking bike but not made to drag race ..

I' m not doubting that it will be fast- I think it's going to be really fast, after all bolt-ons. Some people say 2 tenths. I say 4 tenths-bet.
Back on topic- post up the numbers- we all know it's going to fly.

The drag strip and/or dyno numbers of the Roaring Toyz show bike don't matter nearly as much as the fact that dealers only get two 14R's each... forget about absolute numbers because you won't get anyone smart to quote them from a pre-production machine. You can wait it out and hope one is left in your area, or you can bet that KMC wouldn't bet the farm, in a crashing industry, on this bike leading their charge take over when everyone else is down and out. Its tough out here and I appreciate their aggressive style.

I'm confused.
Do you mean 2 per dealer for the whole year or 2 in the initial delivery???
Why would Kawasaki "bet the farm" and then limit production to only a handful of bikes???
BTW, I have a deposit down on the first one delivered to my dealer, so 2 per dealer works for me!!!

Ok, I misspoke! I heard 2 per dealer at the show? But my dealer said he ordered 5 for himself yesterday and could order more up until Monday if he likes.
Not sure where my info. came from--- perhaps I was confused.
Sorry for any confusion.

Limited Numbers ?
Just stopped in a local dealer here (Orlando) today who said they (Cycle Sports Center Orlando) were only getting one 14R in December and then only 1 per month after that which he described as...normal. Not a big deal for me as I will be buying from a different dealer where I brought my '07 from, but I just wanted to see what info a random local dealer had since the bike was released now almost a month ago. I will probably put a deposit on a blue one after the 1st of the year. Maybe Kawi is planning to ramp up availability of 14R's slowly?

allocation for inventory at the dealerships are all depends on volume they sell.. the more they sell.. the more they get.. it is all set up by manufacture. so each dealership gets initial one or two automatically and then after that depends on sales history.

Good to know and explains why the place I bought my '07 from always had 3-4 14's on the showroom floor. Makes sense and pretty much the same as car people. Now just waiting for the spring and then I'm in for a blue one.
thanks,

thanks,
now.. we know why some dealers sell those left overs for cheap price.. if they don't sell them then factory won't let them order enough for the next order time!! "they say what the hell you want more zx14 if you can't even sell what you got" !!.. make sense..

Never say never.. but history calls that won't be the case. The point was why some dealers have more bikes and some don't..and why some give more discounts and some won't.. it all depends how they want to operate. Some like to sell cheaper and make some sales on accessories and parts and service. And some like to make the most profit out of each bike and we have the choice where we like to buy ours and how much to pay.
