Exhaust systems, slip-ons and mufflers for the new 2012 ZX-14R
Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere, but are the 'old' exhaust systems made for the 2006-2011 ZX-14 compatible with the new 2012 ZX-14R?
Specifically I want to know if the Yoshimura dual TRC-slip-ons for the 2006-2011 ZX-14 bike will fit the 2012 model ZX-14R without modification, or do we need to wait for the aftermarket exhaust manufacturers to come up with updated (ad likely more expensive) products?
Thanks in advance!!!

If you read Brock's post and check his site it appears so. From what I got out of it, you want a Gen 4 system with a diameter of 2.25. He gave an example of using a pipe that was tapered down to 2.0" and a 216 HP machine that lost about 7 or 8 HP ( going from a 2.25" pipe down to 2"). The new breed of 200+HP machines will call for more R&D. Might want to hold on until a few test units are out and the testers actually do some real world dyno testing.

I would think, coming from a hot-rodder's view point, that the diameter would need to be a little bigger because of the increase in displacement. Don't quote me on it though.
you wuddnt put 2" pipes on a big block...even guys running the 350s would use nuthing less than 2.50" pipes on their cars.

If you look at the volume of the slip ons vs stock pipe diameter they are much bigger. The tuning is in the head + collector with slipons I doubt it matters. As long as they fit I say just use them.

Acutally if it's a LS engine the std is 3 inch @ true speed shops.... normal mufflers shops will try and sell you 2.5.... I have a LS6 in my 98 T/A, 3 inch out the back, puts out lil under 400 to the pavement.... (log tube headers, Maga exhaust/tuned, 3.73 behind a T-56 6spd)

Is there anyone with updated information on this subject or do we all have to wait until the aftermarket catches up once the 14R is released?
There seems to be some different opinions on whether the mufflers/exhausts of the old model ZX-14 will fit the new 2012 ZX-14R.

My crystal ball is MIA. You could hook up a guess-o-meter to the pics I tried the angles and placement on the frame looks close but I don't know. Could try to email Kawasaki. Did that sound like a wise ass response?
