Slightly ovrfilling engine oil

G'day again!

Just wondering if slightly overfilling the engine oil will harm a ZX14r? I changed the oil recently and when the oil is cold it fully covers the oil view window but when the bike is warmed up (aparently it is best to check the oil when the bike is warm), the oil comes about 1mm above the top indicator line in the oil window leaving a little bubble at the top, viewed when the bike is perpendicular to the ground . It seems to run smoother than before but should I syringe some oil out so the oil level is in the middle of the two indicator lines? Thanks for any adivce..

It will self level itself out just riding it around. Mine will blow out the excess until it's about in the center of the glass if overfilled. It won't cause any particular problems that I know of.

your engine can live with windage but it can`t with starvation.you`ll loose a little h/p with too much oil...

The extra oil will puke up into the air box making on hell of a mess .. There is a drain on the lower side of the bike .. But just draining it will not get all the oil out of the air box .. You may need to remover the tank and the air box covers and mop out the extra oil.. If the bike starts to smoking on start up or while riding you have oil in the air box.. It will not harm anything but does make a good mess of things ..

white smoke is not oil. That is just condensation in the mufflers burning out. Oil is bluish in color and has a distinct odor.

Just ride it, you won't have a problem. I fill mine to the top line everytime.

Don't worry about that! I get on it all the time. Strangely enough if I go without a ride for more than 5 days I start to dream about it.

Thanks for all the advice guys!
