Running less than 0 weight oil
So I read in Superstreet bike magazine that running ALYSYN <<0 weight oil in your bike is ok for track use, but should not be run for daily driving... why is that? I contacted the company and was told that it is perfectly ok to use for daily riding. The only reason im thinking of using it is because it claims to make the bike run at least 10 degrees cooler. It also has been dyno proved to increase HP and TQ by 1hp and 1ft/lb. And its only .50 more a qt. What could be the problem running in daily?

It makes your engine sound like there's marbles beating around in it! It provides no protection. Is it worth 1hp? I personally don't think so.

Im not really doing it to increase power, my stock 14 has plenty of power for me. I dont plan on tracking it or racing it. Im just worried about the temperature. My bike runs really hot when the temp outside is above 80. Im trying everything i can to cool it down just a bit. Im thinking oil, coolant change, such things like this. Any other tips to help cool it down?

Don't change to a very low viscosity oil for your use. Nobody is changing to less than 0 wt oil in order to keep their bike running cool.

If your main goal is to lower the temp i would look into adding a second cooling fan on a separate temp switch, swapping to a zx10/zx6 front fender, and engine ice or a different coolant. Leave the oil alone if you want your motor to last. If you change oil and run a lower viscosity your losing more than just a few degrees.
Instead of running a lower viscosity oil to lower your coolant temp and blowing the motor, just sell the 14 and buy a different bike.

You could probably use a Muzzy adjustable advancer and take a couple degrees out if power isnt a concern.

I never did a thing to cut the heat but when I added a free flowing full systemexhaust, I lost ~ 1 bar. Cold ambient temps winter 20 F, It won't go above 2 bars on the highway....actually i think that is a bit lower than I would like to see.
3-4 bars is normal for my bike. i only see 5 bars on a really hot day. 6, not unless I shut the engine down at 5 and restart it after it heat cycles a while. Goes right back to 5.

As your bike breaks in it should run cooler. I added a Zx10 front fender and a full 4-1 exhaust system which also helped it run cooler.

I will tell you that 0W oil is worth more than 1hp. I sprayed a 40 shot with 0W oil with no issues. I would not recommendsteet riding with it. I swear by that stuff!

I decided to actually just stick with the amsoil 10w 40 fully synthetic. Makes the bike run a little smoother and less hot. I did use the engine ice and it helped a tad also. As for the clunking, it turned out to be the chain/front sproket.

We use the <0 on Erica's ZX14 and I saw the improvement with dyno and track results. We dyno'd the bike with Lucas 10w40. Dropped the oil and filter and refilled with the <0. The bike was re-dyno'd and showed an increase of 3hp.
We never noticed any difference in the sound of the engine or that it ran any cooler. It is reported to be a very high quality oil and it is soooo thin.
I recommend that you contact Brock Davidson or his sales team and ask them about running it on a non-race bike. Brock is very familar with the Alysyn products.
As an example of what performance increases you can see by using this oil (and other finite improvements); Erica's ZX14 has no internal engine mods and still on the stock wheelbase and can run 9.13-9.20 ET's pretty regular.
There are other standard weights of Alysys Oil available as well. Check www.BrocksPerformance.com

I am about to change the oil on mine as well. Does anyone know where to get a low profile oil plug? I remember seeing it on a different thread, but can't find it now.

Posting the video was only to represent Drag Racing the 14 and it's not used for the street.
That run was the first pass after not riding for nearly 2 months and not practicing prior to the run. We sat at the track for two days waiting to get picked for the show without making a single pass until late Sunday Night. It looked more like a car & bike show with 267 vehicles waiting to be picked for 110 spots to be televised. I thought they would allowed everyone to run for those days and they would make their choices based on a pass. Not how the bikes and cars looked in the pits.

They represent that using that particular product does offer performance gains. Can't say that I'd recommend using <0 for the street.

just changed the oil, Mobil 1 synthetic and installed this oil plug.
But, it is NOT low profile. guess I am going to have to shave it down. It sticks out past the plug guard that I already broke and shaved down. t least it should help keep iron shavings out of the engine.
