Auto tune or local dynotune?

I just bought a muzzy exhaust system, thinking of buying the autotune system. I regularly ride from sea level up to 4K feet or more and would like optimized tuning at altitude.. Would the auto tune be a good choice or should I just go to my local tuner?

Going to a local tuner is going to benefit you at whatever sea level he tunes it at. Everywhere else you go it isn't going to help.
I'm not sure how autotune works, but if it were me, I would go a $20 dyno pull to see how close the muzzy map is. If it's close, maybe get him to clean it up a little and be done.
Unless your racing at 4,000 ft and driving to the bottom of the mountain and racin again, I wouldn't make that big of a deal about it.

Autotune or local tune...maybe it's both

3000PSI:

I think ultimately its your preference, but the custom local tune will let you dial in all throttle ranges in a way that would be hard to pull off on the street. Of course the wide band sensor should make that local "tune" alot easier for your tuner.

Once that is done, the auto tune function can be set to "self adjust" mode while riding which would address your altitude ride situation. I am by no means an expert on Power commander stuff, but I believe the "self adjust" mode can even be set to engage based on various parameters like operating temp, etc.

For the record, auto tune the same road I am going down in the near future when I replace the '07 14 I had to sell a while back. Good luck with whatever you decide. I'm sure others will chime in as well.

Nels at 2 wheel dyno works is a great guy, and he knows his stuff. His prices are very reasOnable. He tuned my bike but I just recently got an autotuner. I think the muzzy m14 map is pretty good. Ducati Seattle is always doing free dyno events with a/f readings. Use the muzzy map and sign up for the next dyno event at ducati Seattle.

turn on auto tune at low altitude, save map. turn off auto tune, ride to high altitude, turn auto tune on again at high altitude, save that map, then use a switch to go back and forth between hi/lo maps as you ride. sell autotune module, get money back, and be left with two custom maps for YOUR bike for whatever altitude you're riding at.
