New Ohlins Shock
With 22K miles and the ass end moving all over the place at only 90 mph I thought it was time to order a new rear shock. I just ordered an Ohlins KA544 rear shock from Kyle Racing. In less than 30 minutes I received a phone call confirming my order and informing me that my shock whould be sprung for me by Ohlins in NC today and likey shipped today as well. I should have shock in hand before the end of the week. I will post photos when It arrives...Cant Wait!!!

SWeeeeeeeeeet! I am getting ready to replace my worn out boinger with something that actually works and can deal with the extra weight of two-up touring with luggage.

You'll love the Ohlins, I have them on my 1100S & they totally transformed the handling, total control, no bottoming out & more adjustment than you will ever need. Ask Ohlins for a baseline set up as it's really time consuming setting it up without a baseline to start with because of it's huge adjustment range. One or two clicks make a noticable difference unlke the stockers.

Kinda hard to show the installed shock but here is the compression damping remote reservoir and hydraulic spring preload...

I cant believe the difference in the ride. Not quite dialed in yet.

I'm 275 with a blue 07 ZX14 with the Ohlins shock. It is set for your weight/riding style. It will raise the rear about 1 inch. Amazing difference! I suggest doing the front forks as well. I went with the racetec gold in front. Ivan's performance in Congers NY did the work for me. Good price/good work. I see you are in Canada so not sure how that will work for you.

I have to do something with the front as I now notice an inequity between the front and rear. Rebuild with "gold valve" & custom springs is around $700...Ohlins forks $2100 plus and there are several options in the middle cost wise. Still rsearching my options...

Yes, it isn't cheap, but once it's done you'll never look back. It will make you much more comfortable straight line and through the turns for sure. It's like having a new bike.

Can't go wrong with RaceTech either... but I was offered a package price of around $3k for forks and shock and sometimes you gotta spoil yourself.

Just corporate colors....instant brand recognition. If you don't like the gold, buy something else, there are other options out there. Penske, Works, Wilbers, Progressive, Nitron, Bitubo, etc...

They did the forks and shock for a guy on 10r.net too... but I don't know what they charged him... couldn't have been cheap. NOTHING from Ohlins is. My brackets for the 10r front fender were $75... EACH!

Thats cool, to bad its 400, and yes I would want the forks black as well, Gold just would not look good on my bike, .....but wow the extra cost is nuts.
